BIOS, select Chipset -> South Bridge Configuration -> HDA Controller -> Disable (turnoff onboard sound)

Why we need lower the multiplier when we manual overclock?
Like E8400 default multiplier is 9. FSB is 333. (3GHZ). We can just increase the FSB to 400 to achieve 3.6GHz?
(should we change the CPU voltage at 9*400?)

And i see at some website achieve 4GHz as below
9*445= 4.0GHz
increase the CPU voltage from 1.3625v to 1.4000v in order to achieve total stability
However keep in mind that a 445MHz FSB will force you to run the DDR2 memory at no less than 890MHz, though most DDR2-800 memory modules should be capable of this.
increasing the DRAM voltage to 1.9~2.1v could also be necessary
2.2v for 1066 (kingston hyperX)
Using the standard voltage at 3.6GHz saw a stress temp of just 37 degrees, while this temperature sky rocketed to 60 degrees when operating with more voltage at 4.0GHz!
(above is using Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme)
(anyone have change the DRAM voltage from 2.1-2.2? if i using corsiar dominator 1066. should i change to 2.2v?)

Some CPU-z on overclock E8400

becoz to get higher FSB n the fsb:ram ratio in 1:1 is better..

Thanks for fast respone smile.gif
Ya. We can get higher FSB and ram 1:1 ratio is optimal for stability.
There's lots of reasons for running 1:1... One is less stress on the motherboard because it doesn't have to deal with dividers. Two is generally lower latency, because when you go through a divider, you take a memory performance hit. For example, few ddr3 1333 ram are running 1:1. You would need a fsb of 666mhz, just hard achievable with today's hardware.
What to do is play around with frequency, timings, and dividers, until get the lowest memory latency in Everest.

DDR2 800mhz requires a fsb of 400mhz to get 1:1!

DDR2 1000mhz requires a fsb of 500mhz to run 1:1!

DDR2 1200mhz requires a fsb of 600mhz to run 1:1!

DDR3 1333mhz requires a fsb of 666 to run 1:1!

E8400@3Ghz oc to 3.6Ghz without changing the vcore ok? smile.gif
My ram is 1066. 1066/2=533. Mean i can oc 9*533? (if temp no consider) by using Biostar TPower.
Any recommand for oc to 3.6GHz or 4GHz using dominator 1066 ram? What is the suitable multiplier, FSB and vcore?

i got problem with my front audio header...
using CM690 case which give 2 connector for mobo. 1 is HD and 1 AC 97 or something i forgot. i read the manual it say only accept HD connector but it didn't work... i plug in AC 97 connector oso still not working... ish ish ish... anybody know what is the problem here? i can't seem to find any settings in the bios....( PLS HELP T_T)
just went thru the whole tread now i found out how to disable the onboard sound i wan plug in my old sound blaster live 5.1 ady just wondering if i can find driver for vista...
I am using the CM690 and Biostar T45. My Chaintech envy24 AV710 sound card just broken. So i using the Biostar onboard sound chip now. I using the HD connector connect to cm690 front panel. The sound is nice.
Are you trying to install your sound blaster and connect the HD connector to Biostar onboard sound chip?
I also have sound blaster live. Anyone know the Biostar onboard sound would be better than sound blaster live? Because the sound blaster live come out since long time ago.

P/s: maybe i will go buy a new Xi-Fi Extreme Gamer smile.gif
