No relation to skin, but the alchohol in my friend's toner dyed the tip of his hair (around the forehead) brown, from black. It was a pretty nifty effect.

I am also wondering, will alcohol fastens the process of ageing? I'm unsure about this but Patrick Bateman in American Psycho said it would, it's a movie btw. Could someone enlighten me?

alcohol in small amounts, i think is negligible and wont be very harmful to your skin. unless you put 70% or 100% alcohol on your face, then that's a different story. if you're drinking excessive alcohol, then it'll show on your skin too.
alcohol dehydrates your skin cells, so the cells lose water and becomes wrinkly. so better to take in alcohol in moderation and as minimal as possible. |

QUOTE(saintangelius @ Jul 21 2008, 11:38 PM) http://www.drjart.co.kr/us_drjart/us_product_2.html I've been using this toner for the past few months. Man, it does last long! XDthe first toner on this list sounds too good to be true *_* I have oily skin and it does a really great work. It also brightens up my skin(if you use the correct way to apply toner. DO NOT use cotton pads). My skin looks not as dull as before even without base makeups. RECOMMENDED! |

Use hydrosols (flower waters) instead of alcohol-based toner. Rose Water is great for normal./dry skin, Chamomile Water is great for sensitive skin, Rosemary Water is great for congested, acne-prone skin, Frankincense Water is best for mature/aging skin...
The main reason we use a toner is to balance the skin's pH after cleansing. No matter what the marketing hype goes, anything containing large amount of alcohol will strip off your skin's natural moisture. When this happen, your skin will retaliate back by producing more oils or more angry break-outs... Skincare products should be an aid to help the skin boost its own defence mechanism against the elements and aging, not to turn it into a 'monster'... And a truly natural product is always the best when it comes to caring for your skin. Natural means that more than 75% of the ingredients used in a particular skincare product should be natural. When a product says its natural please be wary and read the label carefully...the first few ingredients should be natural botanical ingredients...most drugstores' products have too much toxic chemical cocktail in them which is actually not good for your skin's health in a long term run... I'm in my early 30s and when I was younger I used to have a crazy combo dehydrated yet oily and sensitive skin that breaks-out easily... I used to wear heavy makeup to cover the blemishes....then I discovered aromatherapy and ditched all the store-bought skincare products and swiched to natural products. My beauty regime is very simple: Cleanse using african black soap/olive oil soap, tone with a hydrosol and moisturize with pure unrefined shea butter. For night-time I'll add some lavender/immortelle EO to my shea butter and just apply it all over. Once a week I'll exfoliate using brown sugar mixed with a little honey and almond oil and I'll also do a deep cleanse using the oil cleansing method twice a month....I steer clear of conventional makeup even the high-end ones and instead use mineral makeup...been doing this for 5 years now....no break-outs, no congested skin, no blemishes, no lines (yet)... |

Anyone know where I can get Hydrosols? Not the Shu Uemura ones. I read the ingredients lists and somehow I'm not convinced it's okay for my skin. Earthentique, if you do read this PM me please. I'm very interested to know more about your skincare regime. |
