Here's my take on COD:WAW

Got my copy from Alex. Tried the single player campaign and sadly, it's not as cinematic as COD4:MW. The way it was presented is quite forgettable seriously. Showing real life reels of WWII is nice but the way it was shown just quite messy. So on to the game itself - World At War is quite exciting in terms of gameplay. One problem - it's back to M1 Grand and not your usual COD4:MW weapons. 5 shots and "clank", time to change the mag. I am so not used to this (since I am playing Veteran now) and always get killed by the Japanese Soldiers. Banzai! And there they are - rushing towards you with their knife on their rifles while you try to Bayonet them with your own rifle. Problem is... sometimes you don't know where they are. Yes, it's tough to even know where they will sprung up and then if they do, you have to make sure you got enough mag to to kill them. It does feel like COD4:MW - except tougher a little since changing mags can be a problem.

I played through 2 chapters and I can tell you this - you are going to finish this game quicker in less than a day (or even 5 hours) if you play Regular or Hardened. For Veteran gamers will be the same too. I never thought just going through certain scenarios and after finish the goals, it's over so quick. Quite a let down. Still, I don't see a story there, just a journey of one private going around fighting against the Japanese. Of course, on some point of the game you will play a Russian soldier too but I have reach there yet. Fun part of this game? It does provide a few challenges to any gamer (but veteran Call of Duty gamers will breeze it through quick). Is it as good as COD4:MW? Almost... but I think Treyhach (wrong spelling) is just trying hard to be better and just got it almost there.

Graphic wise? Think COD3. I don't know, it just don't feel that nice looking (except the background). Maybe it's just me but I feel COD4:MW has the best graphics so far. Soundwise is quite good - if you hook up your home theatre with your PS3, well... get the same amount of mayhem sound effects as you get in COD4:MW.

That's just the offline... now for online:-

I played 3 matches and I can tell you this - nothing much exceptional is offered here because you get most of what you get in COD4:MW. The additional features? You get to drive a tank. Yes, a tank and you can blow anyone to bits... except, if you can swing your turret fast enough. The same sort of perks going around with additional perks for Tanks (swing your turret faster... uh, that's quite the same speed even adding it on). Additional 5 more custom made class added, 3 Perks like COD4:MW that has almost the same. And once again - main problem is the ancient weapons. Holding my M1 Grand, 5 shots is not enough to kill your opposition (unless headshots) if you lag. Seriously, your re-load bullet time is a minus in this game. Even a submachine gun to change the mag - same slow amount of time. If you are unlucky and got caught while changing mag, that's it. Same recon maps (3 kill streak), instead of helicopter you get dogs and same long distant cannons (instead of planes dropping bombs from above). Other than that, the bonus part is actually the tank if you ask me.

Out of so many maps, I tried 3. The Cliff - quite small and anyone can ambush you. Wait - I think the Temple map also the same thing, anyone can ambush you too. The design is basically seriously open. There's no way to hide or even camp. If you are lucky enough to camp with your sniper rifle, good. But once you get bayonet, that's quite uncool. You need to be on the move every time. If you stay on too long in one place, you will be bound to get killed. Ranking system is the same (not sure until what level). Other than that, yes... multiplayer or fans of COD will come back for more. Already I have seen some gamers already level to 17.  blink.gif

If you love COD4:MW, this latest edition will keep you going. Yes, the zombie killing is fun provided you got friends to play with you. Oh yes, online connection? If you want a quick join - it's rather slow. Other than that, this game is a keeper if you don't mind the negative points here.
