hi all,

Bought my E71 few days ago. I can't get to connect to 3G network. It always connected to only GPRS or eGprs only. I had done the below:

1. Downloaded 3G setting.

2. Went to maxis centre and confirmed that my sim card already activated. They tried to checked but couldn't find the prob. We also tried to swap my sim card to other phone and it was working. Tried use another working 3G sim card in my E71, not working too.

3. Tried to deactivated the APN control which suggested in this thread but no luck too.

4. Fyi, it is a AP phone which I think is a Europe version, no chinese. Went back to the shop and there said maybe 3G maxis setting is not available for this phone yet which I think is just bullshit. They suggested me to do a master reset which I don't dare to do first bcoz I had many data in the phone already.

5. Maxis told me that maybe the phone has something blocking the 3G access.

Anyone here got any idea what's going on here? Please please help me on this because I really stuck with this problem.

Thanks for replied, I did try that too. I just found out my e71 is the model e71-2 which I think is a US model with UMTS 850/1900. Do you guys this might be the cause? If yes, what can I do?

Thanks to mikelanding....went to the shop and "F" them to change to E71-1. Now I got the new phone and 3G is working. The new one even support chinese....yeah

After I exchange with another AP set which can access 3G and also got chinese too, but the Contact Search function is no longer available (the function when you type any character in home screen and straight display contact with the character you typed), anyone know why? I tried the option button but there's no "Contact Search On/Off" selection for me to choose from.

Thanks for suggestion, I had tried that but still not working. Fyi, I still can use the search function when I'm in the contact book.

Hi Guys,

Is the below possible on E71?

1) One click button to syn all the remote mail box (pop3 type). Currently setup a few pop3 emails in the phone. To reteive email, I need to go to each mail box to connect. A little bit inconvenient.

2) On calendar item (eg. Meeting, To-do) date field, can we bring up the calander to select date? Currently, need to type in manually, a little bit inconvenient too especially you do not know the actual date but you know the meeting is on let say next Friday).

hi, is your phone E71-1 or E71-2? I was having problem on 3G connection on my E-71 before (after went back to the shop and maxis few times and no solution at all). At last, I found out myself my E71 is actually E71-2 which is for US country 3G access only. Finally, I got to f*** the seller and got to exchange the E71-1. It's working flawlessly right now
