of course during the interview they would not tell you this kind of stuff ,(part of the fine print and luring process) that why it's always important for take caution when companies offer allowances that are above than average because they can easily manipulate by them later and there's nothing much that the employee can do unlike if they cut your basic salary then you can fight for at labor court. i haven't get the handbook, so i didn't know those things that u told...

what hazeleyes said was is quite true cause when i join my ex company at cyber, they were quite new there and part of their "package" was to offer transport allowance of rm 400 way back in 2003 which was quite high, but once they grew in size and they realized they had the upper hand and they removed it in 2005. A few was pissed and left but not enough to effect the companies operation, well in end it's like making a sale of a product/brand that is new to the market, they will offer all sorts of incentives to build their base then once it's solid they don't care and have the attitude " if you don't like it , no one stopping you from leaving"
