i just walk to BB plaza, saw this shop saying "iphone services and repair" i told him my situation about my wifi, apparently i need to replace my wifi IC chip......the best part is, its going to cost me RM600-700...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

i doubt they will replace your wifi chip as wifi chip already soldered to the main board of iphone, they cant simply solder out and put another wifi chip, if they tell u need to change the board it might be true...but if they tell you they change the wifi chip , they are lieing ...most probrably they just erase all your baseband and update the latest one.

so dont be cheated by them...i hate those shop who like to cheat people...simply do baseband erase need RM700? doh.gif rclxub.gif shocking.gif

my godness! 700!! phew..... i better start learning how to dismantle iphone... hey, it looks pretty easy dismantling them via video instruction on youtube... been naked'ing all my windows mobile device before just for the sake of cleaning em inside out and so far, so good... im thinking of replacing the back plate to black one next month smile.gif

you're not advised to dismantle youself because there's a lot of parts u need to take out from the original iphone and stick correctly to the black housing...it's not like take out the housing and replace another so easy....

find someone who's more professional. smile.gif

the wifi receiver is located above the network receiver (enclosed by the black case)

Added on June 20, 2008, 5:31 pmhence if you wanna replace the wifi receiver, you have to essentially replace the entire thing (wifi + network receivers)

it's not the receiver he mentioned...it's the wifi chip ..... sweat.gif ...the wifi IC chip is soldered to the mainboard already...

Someone in the forum already done that. The hard part would be ... like i said .. opening the back cover. There's 10 screws holding the chrome bezel.

Check this guide to know more on how to change it. Word of caution, its not as easy as it looks in the guide on how to remove the back cover. Nokia2003 can confirm that.

yes thats why i not recomend him to do it himself as it's not easy...silap skit sweat.gif cry.gif i phone gone....

those small parts from original iphone is really small ...yes, they need glue remover to remove it.

this have to ask master nokia2003 brows.gif

well, basically my iphone wifi is not working anymore, whenever i tired to turn it on, it wont detect any access point. eventually my iphone will hang, and ive gotto force reboot it.

also sometime, when my iphone could not detect my wifi mac address (grey wifi) then its getting frustrating, cos whenever i left my phone in sleep mode, incoming calls i wont get any alert.
all these problem is really killing me T___________T . tried fully restore a few times, but its not working...sigh...thts y i suspect its hardware issue
