i've just started using floyd rose trem. i notice when i do dive bombs, after all my strings are tuned slightly flat... but when i pull the trem back all the strings are slightly sharp... is something wrong with the trem? how do i go about this??
either the trem unit is flawed or strings not properly stretch or it was not setup properly. the last 2 is more likely. do check the bridge alignment and spring placement. then try to stretch the strings and retune.
Your knife edges are either dull or the trem posts are not tight..
But the tuning will be a wee bit flat when you dive.. that is normal.. So always tune your strings after a dive or you just stretch them out.. This sets your trem into the optimal rest position...
This is because if you tune your strings when you have just pulled up on the trem, the tuning will naturally go flat when you bend a string...
this alwasy happend to a floyd rose guitar unless ur using SA ilbanez then i guess u can keep in tune even u do dimebag squek
mind telling where you get that fact? i'm on schaller's FR and i don't have any "out-of-tune" problem. heck, i'm sure a lot of other FR users don't have it.
As with all floating trems, they just need to be set up properly.. and over time they will inevitably have wear and tear, particularly the knife edges and trem posts... except the ZR on the S series, which runs on bearings..
the OFR by schaller, who've been making them since forever, is getting harder to find now...if u do with the currency now at least RM750-800+...
cos the new OFR now is all MIC. previously was the ping OFR, that was also MIC...that one can differentiate cos got a small ping logo. the new MIC OFR looks 95% like OFR... of cos the schaller OFR will still say 'made in germany'...the MIC OFR says nothing at all...they already know its a turn-off to write MIC no need to say also...but there are slight finish differences between both...but then ppl say its still as good as the schaller...
some guy in the kramerforum actually has done comparisons cos he bought the MM1 also...but im too lazy to go find them... and of cos kramers has schaller OFRs
so GAS...uhh...instead of getting a OFR only...why not a kramer with OFR?
Added on June 16, 2008, 1:24 pmbtw, this may interest u... but its abit long...almost 30mins...and the guy talks like a dork...
