1st person: S740 if don't need touchscreen, Samsung i780 if need touchscreen

2nd person: QWERTY, brand new with 1.2k budget? Near to impossible. Try settling with a 2nd hand TyTN II in good condition with that budget. Might need abit of negotiation

Yea, but the slider mechanism might give way after awhile. But it is a good smartphone to start with.

TyTN II is of coz better than the 838 Pro. I am using an 838 Pro, and it is good. TyTN II is the upgraded ver of 838 Pro. Moreover, 838 Pro is completely obsolete. Getting accessories for it would be very hard.

Try finding for a 2nd hand TyTN II. I guess u'll have to nego it till it is real low. Else, you have to drop the GPS and get an 838 Pro.

i recommend a HTC Touch Cruise, especially since lady user. its quite a sexy device IMHO. or u can top up 200 more and get a HTC Touch Diamond, my price RM 2400. Touch Cruise is around 2.1k around that. Of course the Touch Diamond is a stronger device, but lacks external memory card, only inbuilt 4GB and less than normal battery life. but nicer screen and more powerful than touch cruise. both have GPS yes, and btooth and wifi and all. so your choice here
