2k for an acoustic without pickups. I think u can get quite a good guitar with that amount. I own a Norman hollow body fitted with Fishman 4T. And it sounded great unplugged and even nicer if its amplified/lined in.
Maybe you should consider Norman guitars the ones without pickups as you intended. They are very good Canadian guitars.

You can test it here The Guitar Store

Martins are way too expensive...

Why don't you try out Maton? Tommy Emmanuel uses it and it can take a whole lot of beating and still sounds great... They are relatively cheap too..

Lol....do you know T.E. received how many prototypes b4 maton launch any of his signature models,he can afford to sand off the lacquer on the top to get a scrapper sound,n uses a brushes stick to hit it...HARD!!!

u think u'll willing to spend abt 8k to buy a guitar n purposely scratch it like that?

TS,u can actually go try Freeman Guitars,Edward Hiew,he's a local luthier, his standard model is selling for 2.5k i think, full solid sitka or engelmann spruce top with indian rosewood back & sides

sorry...it's 2.5k

I have tried Taylor, Martin, Takamine, Yamaha, Simon & Pat, A&L. Taylor and Martin sounded good but is way, way, way above 2K. Can't afford it. Big Baby or 100 series - I am not too impress for the price. The others brands have guitars over a broad price range in the 2K region. I end up getting a Seagull S6+ cedar with gator case under 2K. If you are into finger style this IMHO is biggest bang for your hard earn ringgit.

- You need some time to get use to the wide neck.
- Get the S6+spruce if you prefer a brighter overall sound
- Get Cleartone phosphor bronze light gauge string. They're expansive but they ring better and last longer.
- workmanship for the guitar is good. Check the interior! no sloppy over-glued joint.
- Made in Canada. You should make an effort to sound test seagull for comparison

During my audition at the various guitar shops, some of the guitars on display sounded crappy becuz of the poor condition of the string, do ask if they have another one in stock.

Most important - trust your ears for the best sound within the your max.limit of your budget. Good hunting.

well big baby wasnt that bad.. but for me, the sounds came out from the guitar shows more on treble.. it produce bright sound.. more like fender telecaster guitar in a acoustic way..in otherhand, takamine is a warm balanced acoustic guitar..same like u holding a stratocaster.. smile.gif

Ibanez Acoustic guitar V70CE with pickup (made in china) <---
Is this a good learning guitar (2nd hand) selling at RM450?
It says that it has a pickup but will it sound exactly like acoustic when unplugged because mostly I use it for bedroom practice only?
Or should just get a Yamaha F310 instead?
I like the design and size very very much though.
