Right on the heels of the Xbox/Netflix alliance comes news that Sony will offer its own console downloads—in high-def.

I4U says that Sony launched the Video Store today, which will include standard- and high-def downloads straight to the PlayStation 3. Users will have the option to buy or rent any of the content available. Once your selection is loaded, you can then watch it or transfer it to the PlayStation Portable (PSP).

Sony says that a few movie studios are already lined up to contribute. One of the names thrown around was Disney. Overall, don’t expect the same selection you’d find on Netflix, but there also isn’t a subscription fee. However, we couldn’t find any info about how much rentals will cost. Stay tuned!

You think its possible that certain types of movies that cannot come to Malaysia (No not pron) is available in the service?

If that's the case, it should be worth getting it. Or else, BD is still fine with me, unless they also decide to offer FULL BD CONTENT.

Hmm i downloaded a demo of "HOME" that sony sim like thing, that got HD quality cinema (pay per view). Is this anyhow related to this?

n00b question regarding 5.1

i can use my 5.1 for MGS4,so it works perfectly.

however,for blu ray movies, i cannot get 5.1
i only get 2 channels,left and right

anyone know what could be wrong?

a breakdown on what i tried:
1)put in I am legend blu ray disc, played with the audio options-all produce only 2 channel sound

2)took out the blu ray movie,then put in MGS4-speakers worked perfectly

3)put the blu ray movie back in, still no sound from the surround speakers.

4)tried changing the audio system's channel from Audio 1 to Video 2 (and changed the cable as well) but still same. still only 2 channels.

anything i may be missing out?

check the settings la... if its 5.1 or not...

How is your audio or video setup like? HDMI to amp? Digital coaxial ?

correct me if i'm wrong, but i think u need to change your audio output settings from linear to bitstream in the PS3 audio settings menu.

i assume ur using optical audio? if not mistaken, if u play movies with uncompressed audio, and u set as linear output but u use optical, ur amp will just output the audio as 2CH only.

but please correct me if i'm wrong, HT sifus. i also got this problem, and got some lessons from sifus here.
