The best search software that I had ever used. Even better than the overrated Google Desktop. And now a new version :D QUOTE Windows Search just got better. Windows Search 4.0 is now available for download. With it you can expect better indexing performance, support for the remote query of shared index locations, per-user group policy settings, and more. To try it out, select from the following operating environments: • Windows Search 4.0 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008• Windows Search 4.0 for Windows Server 2003• Windows Search 4.0 for Windows Vista x64 Edition • Windows Search 4.0 for Windows XP • Multilingual User Interface Pack for Windows Search 4.0 for Windows XP

I never run/use the Window Search service (indexing) in my Vista before. I find it useless since I seldom use it and the indexing is a resource hogger. Now I see this, maybe I should give it a try

nah, it barely registered in the task manager. I found it A LOT easier to run indexing and searching for file in the start menu, and that was before 4.0

I thought Vista has a powerful built-in search engine? Why it needs this add-on?

I uninstalled it back since I don't know how to use it. The only thing it could search is from the desktop and web. A mini bar appeared on the right hand side of the taskbar.

this new search addon sucks, tried before on WinXP SP3, it's slow, and pops out a new window if you need to search, no side search like the old WinXP anymore... and it do looks ugly... I wonder what ppl see in this one, just can't accept it... even Vista search is far more better...

For vista, it will upgrade the current search feature. After upgrading, it seems like it have to rebuild the index files. I have 26K items indexed, and it took ~200mb of space.
