This is one thing people especially malaysian misunderstood about 3G.

For them, 3G = video call, a 3G phone with no front camera is not a good phone.

Where as, 3G = faster connection and data transfer. Video call is only one of the funtionality that takes advantage from the faster connection it provide compare to EDGE/GPRS. To say apple don't have the means for vid call would be not true. Who know whats under their sleeve for the next iPhone version. Its just a marketing strategy, if apple give everything to us then people wont upgrade to new iPhone version. First they give EDGE, then people said its slow. They come out with a new phone with 3G and a lot of people are planning to upgrade. After this what else will they roll-out so to keep us upgrading/changing the phone. This is also to show that they improve the hardware and the software. Imagine if they put everything inside, they can only wow us with cosmetic changes and software upgrade. Then they can't wow us with new 'innovation'.

Well actually iPhone 3G capable of HSDPA. For them, 3G is the generation like EDGE is 2.5G while HSDPA is the protocol. iPhone 3G is capable of HSDPA 3.6mbps but AT&T capped it at only 1.4mbps. HSDPA = 3.5G.

Haiya ... this what happens when u don't read what i've post carefully. I've already given my opinion why apple did not put everything in there and yet u come back with some cynical remarks. Did i said i will buy new phone every time they launch one? And yes i said video call is just one of the functionality of 3G. Read it back man ... and this time try to understand it rather than lashing out blindly.

Let me summarize it for your better understanding

1. 3G = faster connection and data transfer. Video call is only one of the funtionality that takes advantage from the faster connection. Its not just for surfing/download. U can stream media, have a better web apps and the best thing is dat your voice and data comm is not disturbed (not a good choice of word). As u know, if we use EDGE, the voice comm is disabled i.e u can't receive call while surfing with EDGE. U don't experience this with 3G as u can use the data and voice simultaneously. Thats why for me vid call is just a fraction of what 3G can do.

2. If apple give everything to us then people wont upgrade to new iPhone version. ITS A MARKETING STRATEGY. Do u get it?

DON'T BUY coz u don't know the phone full function and potential. All u know is 3G phone must have video call.
