Hmmm, some have said that the AP version is no different than the ori version as the difference is only who brings in the phone. Further, if I understand it correctly, the AP sets have their own warranties.

So, if I were to get the ori version, assuming that SE did not managed to rectify all the probs mentioned by the forummers here so far, what are the additional advantages of getting the ori version?

*Planning of getting the c905 and hopefully they will launch it soon (Btw, I have visited the SE M'sia website and it seems as if the phone is already launched; it doesn't have the 'coming soon' remark on it, does this mean it is already launched?)
*
yes, AP vs Authorized is only the warranty difference.

the only advantage from buying original set is, you'll get reliable repair support from SE center, as they'll get the 1st hand knowledge directly from SE, and you'll 100% get original parts too. you'll never know what AP repair center will put in, but not to say they never put original parts but just not as reliable - they can do anything.

regarding the website, it's a common problem with many malaysian based website - they'll never update their website correctly. the phone is not yet launch officially, and yet they remove the coming soon maybe because they thought it's already launched world wide so no need to "coming soon".

but have you guys seen the test shots. its all really good.

anyway its not really surprising if they only did minor touch up on the photo. Cybershot phones do have really good camera functions

i have no doubt that C905 is capable to take a really good picture. photo editing cannot do magic, if the photo came out sux, it'll be remain sux. biggrin.gif

yes, definitely. visit http://www.gsmarena.com and read the 8mp cameraphone shootout.

although there're quality differences between all 8mp shooter, all of them capture more details than even the best 5mp shooter.

Here's another C905 review from USEB!
http://blog.se-nse.net/reviews/sony-ericsson-c905-review/
*
i'm really impressed by C905 the more i read about it. the photos although probably only about 90%+ of what innov8 can do but for average people it's really nice enough especially talking about the more useful xenon flash and torch light!

i'm especially impressed by the video taken by C905. sometime the VGA resolution is about pixel gimmicks, although C905 take only QVGA but when view at full screen it doesn't really look much different (dare i say, no difference) from those taken by N95/N82. the bitrate is high enough for more details in QVGA mode, maybe that's why SE don't want to play this gimmicks and try to save more memory space for you. not to mention the very high quality stereo mic (which is very rare), the audio in those sample videos are awesome and suit me as a musician really well. happy.gif

yes, lots of people got problems with their SE phones, but doesn't mean *everyone* got the same problem.

better than N82? you judge yourself. camera wise, yes, it's better.

base on gsmarena's review
all 8mpx in the market picture quality wise blow out all 5mpx camphone
n from the same review, the c905's xenon flash pretty strong
*
i'm afraid people just not willing no accept the fact. laugh.gif

anyway in this review http://blog.se-nse.net/reviews/sony-ericsson-c905-review/ author even said the flash is probably the strongest up to date. N82 can shoot very bright flash picture because it's using up to ISO800 for the very dark environment.

u got innov8 and the old n95?

so what do u think is a better overall phone? im choosing between n95 8gb, c905, n85. the small screen of the c905 really bugs me...

what do u mean by the gps map cannot be saved??
*
i played with N95 8GB, screen not as nice as newer N85/N96, colour not so vivid. i think even C905 also has nicer screen.

if you seriously want to have video on the go, 2.8" is still too small, at least to me. wait for N97, or just buy the 5800 Tube brows.gif .

if you think camera is the most important, and want to have at least 2.8" screen, go for innov8, but keep in mind it has no xenon flash.

if you've read the problems with 5800 you wont buy it.. i did want to but the phone but changed my mind because of the probs..

go to 5800 v2 thread and you'll see...

n96 too pricey with almost same features and same design as my n81

innov8 pricey too.. what's the price for innov8 now?
*
if in your case, it's either N85 or C905 fit your bill. since N85 is 2.6", not too much difference compare to C905.

it really depends what you want. ask yourself first, do you seriously want to watch movie on the go? cause i saw many cases people bought large screen because they can show off and tell you "see see this one watch movie soooo nice the screen so big" but the fact that they probably only bring out and watch once in a bluemoon because watching on such a small screen is tiring and no fun. and it drain battery fast so it's hard to estimate when the battery will suck dry. sweat.gif

however in western country watching movie on the go is common because they usually take public transport (you know la, malaysia public transport not good) so they usually need mobile entertainment, and seldom drive car (petrol also expensive).

@alpha - SE is well known for manufacturing defects, and nokia is more of QC issues, although *not* every model in general. if you're paranoid about those issues, it's whether you bite the bullet and go for SE/Nokia, or just simply go for other brand.

but if you keep paranoid until like unless a phone will never have issues only you buy, i really wonder when willl be a phone that'll satisfy you. sweat.gif

when you choose a phone, it's important to know exactly what you want. regarding the video call for C905, do making video calls very important to you? and, as i mentioned, do you really need to watch video on the go? do you really need to browse webpage at full size and want to browse flash website? main selling point of C905 is camera snapper with lots of features to offer but they're more of quantity than quality, C905 is NOT an all rounder performer.

my kind advice to you, don't choose a phone because it has all these cool specs but you don't need them at all. it'll simply waste your money and waste your time to search for the "perfect" device.

and keep in mind, when buy a new phone it's exciting where you'll keep bring out your phone to play around just to feel that, for example, "oh the big screen really chun" "my phone rulez! got so many functions" "the touch screen very nice la!" but after using it a while, you'll start to keep it in the pocket and will not use it at all except for call and sms. last few days i saw someone take out the 5800 tube just to touch touch, access menu, scroll scroll, open video player and straight close it, he probably was thinking "oh man my new toy so nice!!" but it looks funny to someone beside him. sweat.gif

so...think about it. smile.gif

1. video calls.. i say quite important for me.

2. video on the go.. not important at all. only view short video clips.

3. mp3 on the go.. of course..and i need a 3.5mm to use with all headphones..

4. wifi browsing. i need it for important gmails and occasional youtube, forums etc. but i do really need wifi

5. gps.. a nice plus that has an importance. i can use it for my trips

6. camera.. a cameraphone that has quality be it 3mp or 5mp.

5800 phone is on my list but the 3mp camera is just enuf..hmm.. nice touchscreen but durability wise i think slider lasts longer. does 5800 look nice to other people? it looks a bit dull to me..i think la..

thanks for the advice man biggrin.gif
*
1. ok since you make video calls, C905 totally out.

2. ok that means virtually any screen size will do, maybe not smaller than 2.4"

3. 3.5mm connector means C905 also out.

4. all the phone in your list are equipped with wifi.

5. all the phone in your list are equipped with gps.

6. since camera not important as long as it can take picture, all of the phone qualified.

i'd say, get N85 with better OLED display with more vivid colour. and it qualify all of your needs and you have a nice 5mp camera. since you're not confident on 5800 tube, so i guess n85 fit you best.

By the way 5800 TUBE also very nice as far as i can see, plus the battery life very good and it's very cheap to buy. I tell you an experience with the webpage browsing with 320x240. although 2.6"/2.8" is big enough for you to resize the webpage but i can tell you 50% size of the webpage on N95 8GB looks pathetic. the 640x360 is definite a big big big plus, browse webpage with high resolution is always a better choice. maybe you should reconsider it? buy avaxx set if you worry about QC and defects. or if you can wait, and save more money, N97 is even better. wink.gif

PS: a little correction to your statement, slider won't be as durable as candybar (5800 TUBE).

i'm pretty sure SE is well aware of their phone problem all the while, but they don't seems to improve much. most probably their QC have problems and also maybe they opt for cheaper cost so the components are not as good.

but that said, not all SE phones got lots of problem. we'll see if they address the problem and hopefully 2nd/3rd batch and onwards will be much better.
