if around that price, i'd rather buy iphone...i'm pretty sure it's around RM2k. The C902 also not that expensive during launch. Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot C905, 8.1 MegaPixel Camera

well if you want to go for it, wish you good luck then!
but still, even if you can't wait, at least wait for the AP set. less hassles at the very least. best wait for authorized set as the price will become more stable. |

QUOTE(chtan @ Oct 24 2008, 11:44 AM) Of course if you can get the map to download into the phone. But downloading the map does equal to log-on your location. You need satellite signal to triangulate your position. Unless your phone has a dedicated GPS unit to receive and process the satellite signal itself, you have to rely on network mask to do the job for you, and hence why you need to connect on-line in order for that processed data to relay back to you. you talk as like C905 has no GPS... So, even you have the map you still need to get connect to start your AGPS. oh i know, cause nothing can beat your beloved innov8... |

QUOTE(Seaedge @ Oct 24 2008, 12:35 PM) little ice: i think he misunderstood what reviewer said about "with Cell ID functionality that allows getting a GPS fix on your location without having a real GPS-receiver onboard". and some clarification, C905 have GPS chipset on board for geotagging, but if use for googlemap, it will need to download the maps via GPRS/3.5G. So C905 having GPS or not doesnt really matters because you cant fully utilise it unless there is a Java GPS software that supports voice nav and offline map. and when go oversea, you can say you are still lost even though u got GPS. lol ok, no big deal. seaedge i've visited a website, a donation ware offline map that can download and convert yahoo/msn maps and translate them to offline google map. anyway with a bit or googling i've come across this http://linuxtechs.net/kruch/tb/forum/index.php but still not the one i've seen though. |

QUOTE(chtan @ Oct 25 2008, 09:46 AM) I'm fully aware of what the reviewer said. Whether it can download the map or not is not important and that don't account for the phone is whether a dedicated GPS or A-GPS. unfortunately, you're still wrong. The major factor here is a true GPS unit can log-on into your location as long as your can receive a clear signal from satellite, while AGPS will only able to do that thru. network mask. Due to it lacks of GPS hardware, it needs the network mask to process the satellite data and relay it back to the handset. In actual fact, i would consider it as approximation not log-on. (This software trick can be employ in other normal phone as well, not only C905) Due to this, when your are oversea, your normal local sim card is not going to work unless you enable roaming and guess what is the cost of using roaming? What if when you are in the jungle for tracking? You loose the phone signal, you loose the AGPS. gps is gps, no tricks and cons. it'll work as it is, and will not need network access to get it work. take an example, N95 can lock the position without any network access. the problem with phone GPS device is, they're not as accurate as dedicated gps device, and they take a long time for the initial locking, hence the need of Assisted-GPS, which need the help of GPRS for more information on satelite locking. you can bring N95 for jungle tracking, no problem, just that it may have a hard time locking the satelite signal due to many trees blocking the sky. |

QUOTE(wil_shakespeare84 @ Oct 26 2008, 01:34 AM) im currently using pda phones which have gps...for normal phones , im really not sure how well gps works on them..so i really wonder how well this will be...as for a normal gps phones they may have soft ware like garmin or mapking to support..wat i understand that they will use google map which will need constant gprs connection to get the update or watsoever...i have also heard on the wayfinder.which i really not sure how it works...maybe is there anyone to enlighten me on this? google map need constant network access because it's designed that you cannot store the map in your phone cause the database is too big to fit into a phone so google rather have you download the map in realtime instead.im also quite intereseted to know if this phones can really good for heavy surfers like us..hehehhe..i wonder if we can see youtube stuff from it...hahhhaha.and also will wonder if we can chat via msn thru this phones..hahahha not sure about viewfinder, but from what i read about it, it's not free, but 3 months trials are available when you got the phone new. as for heavy surfers and msn with this phone, i very much doubt so cause the battery capacity is not designed to handle such task and it's not a smart phone unless you can find msn or other IM for java based phone. even if you can find IM for java based phone, i doubt it'll support multi tasking, means you cannot run it in the background while doing other things. if you want more multimedia entertainment along with camera with xenon flash, N82 is the best choice imvho, and the price is quite cheap consider what it can do too. |

QUOTE(IcedNyior @ Oct 26 2008, 12:32 PM) thanks for the explaination on GPS. I'm still not really familiar with it. the triangulate service is GPRS which is what used in AGPS as explained before. GPS can be used by itself just that you'll wait until your coffee become cold then only it'll lock on. From what I understand that you need some kind of service or go online to triangulate your current position then give directions to where you want to go. So does that mean its like data charges? or a seperate kind of service? Because I have a friend who has a n95 and pays a monthly fee for his gps. Also, is there a offline map that can be used with the c905. So lets say if i need to find a place, i just find point A (my current location) manually then locate point B and the program/application finds the fastest route. N95 monthly fees is the realtime voice navigation, but the map application itself can have virtual routing that cannot be use in realtime, and the maps itself is free to use. about the offline map for C905 (or other java based phone), it depends on whether the application support or not, or if the maps support cause the maps may or may not contain routing informations. if using google maps as offline but you want route, storing every route will make your phone memory explode haha. check iphone forum for more information about google maps. |

i don't care about video calling, the mid price tag and excellent 8.1MP camera with gps/wifi is enough for many people to buy it.

if convert the price selling in SG, it's around RM2000~RM2100. so if anyone want to get it early can get it at SG i guess. but i'd rather wait for the official launch, hopefully the price will be around RM2299~RM2399...

QUOTE(squall_kay @ Nov 5 2008, 06:32 PM) perhaps u can hv a look at gsmarena or smape's review regarding c905 coz they use quite latest FW. phonearena use old fw yup, it's almost as good as innov8 except that the details are not that sharp when it comes to trees (dunno why, just trees). awaiting for the grand 8mp shootout from GSMArena like how they did the 5mp shootout last time. |

well i went to gsmarena again, download those photos and edit them.
well, even i resize them to 1600x1200, the photo still remain as sharp and natural, really nice, not to mention 1600x1200 already the max photo sharing size, bigger than that will be harder to view on PC. i just wonder, why C905 can capture detailed buildings but not trees and leafs? anyway comparing downsized image (to 2mp), the quality difference almost non-existance compared to innov8. i'm done with LED photo taking, so next phone gonna be xenon. bravo SE! if the price gonna be rm1999 or even rm2099 for authorized set, i'm sold and will rush out to buy right away. |

QUOTE(lazogirlz @ Nov 7 2008, 03:24 AM) SE camera quality is not good as NOKIA. even 8.1 and i dont think its quality will be great. try k800i and k850i once they had launched. both made me disappointed with its picture quality and video quality and ended up change to n95 and n82. gsmarena said, any of the latest 8mp camera phone beat all 5mp camera phone hands down.or should i say, you're merely just a fanboy? |

there's no reason why xenon flash shouldn't score a lot for most youngsters. i'd rather sacrifice some details for night party photos. even though C905 doesn't score well among other 8mp camera phone, at least it still beat all 5mp camera phone of the previous generations. most importantly, the full resolution is almost not needed, and when's the last time you print out your photo taken by camera phone?
for me i'm really happy with c905's photo. for casual shooting, convenient always more important than quality imho. i'd buy a cheap digicam if i want quality, even a rm599 digicam already can beat any camera phone. |

without a dedicated 3.5mm jack it's not possible to watch movie/listen to music with headphone while charging the phone. but at the end people rarely charge and listen to music at the same time anyway.
