QUOTE(Sd-RawK-Cab25 @ Sep 12 2008, 08:26 PM) wah..so funny that i skipped earlier pages and went to this page and you are discussing on batt. dude...the total 40 mins of GPS explains it all......i would expect that battery life if u use GPS....use this as a guide....45 mins of GPS, or 1 hour of movie watching is roughly equal to 1 day of standby with moderate calls and sms. ( based on my G3 firmware - lasts 4 days with moderate calls and sms)i also seem to be worried with my batt life...but please advise whether this is normal or not yea? i charged yesterday night, at around 8PM i guess, plugged it out at around 2 am. this time already fully charged, and in fact the phone indicated full charge earlier..i think around 12am. so i sent 1 sms, set alarm that's it. then i tried my GPS with Garmin this morning, for about 5-10 mins. after switching off, noticed batt still 100%. when i reached office, my batt was at 90% - about 9am. then stayed at 90% until noon. after prayers, went back to office and noticed it dropped to 60%. so i tried to google, and some forums said, switch off hsdpa and so on. did that, and on the way back home batt was still 60%. then i needed GPS, used it for about half an hour or so, and after first usage, dropped to 40%. then now, after buka, it dropped to 20%. troughout the day, just made sms, snapped 1-2 photos, answered calls. i'm running S2U2, and SPB shell. Firmware is G4. is this normal, or is it because my batt still new and i still need to 'overcharge' it? glad for all the help and advice guys! |

anyone had this trouble with mobile shell? The phone lock cannot be undone once the phone is locked for sometime.....the unlock key on the bottom left is replaced by a "close" that cannot be clicked?
it is only resolved if u uncheck using the now screen as the standby screen.... was wondering if anyone also had encountered similar problems |

QUOTE(Sd-RawK-Cab25 @ Sep 13 2008, 10:33 PM) ok now this is disturbing me a bit. hmm...that is wierd.....but i guess it has something to do with the firmware version.....i have excellent battery with the G3 firmware...i charged my phone this noon. while switched off. at abt 4 pm i guess, the led turned green. so i switched on, and i just used mainly sms. just browsed through some images, that's all. no GPS, not even camera, nothing. just sms. now at 1031PM, batt is at 60%. i think that's unusually fast right? for me to do nothing, but just sms? anyone can comment on this? again: FW: G4 Installed SPB shell 2.1.1, S2U2 plugin. please advise....really worried my battery got problem. how long should i charge the phone actually? kinda funny cos compared to some of you guys who say can last up to 3 days on minimal use. How long does it take u to full charge by the way? till the led turns green from empty? Mine takes about 3-4 hours... Added on September 13, 2008, 11:49 pm QUOTE(lk_chin @ Sep 13 2008, 10:45 PM) anyone know how to increase sms tone volume ? simple.......my sms tone volume was very low but my phone rinG was loud... : ( hot to fix this? for all WM phones....the ring tone depends on your PHONE volume the sms tone depends on your PDA volume. Note when u toggle the volume rocker, there are two sliders? just put the pda slider to match your phone slider and the ring tones for the phone and the sms will be at the same volume. QUOTE(Sd-RawK-Cab25 @ Sep 14 2008, 12:21 AM) i just read around about SPB shell draining batteries. some are ok, some have probs. hmm......better switch off the updates for the weather.....otherwise u may get a huge data bill at the end of the month....so i disabled auto weather updates from spb mobile, disabled bluetooth. so i'll see if it can last till tomorrow. *fingers crossed* abt the FW, i read almost everywhere saying G4 is stable and no batt issues. only some with H3 have batt issues. the last resort is try to uninstall SPB and see if it makes a difference. i love the spb actually, so..kinda sayang wanna uninstall it. Do let me know how things are going and whats the update.....but ur right....so far all the battery complaints have been for h1 and h3 |

QUOTE(Sd-RawK-Cab25 @ Sep 14 2008, 11:58 AM) hi guys, correct me if i am wrong.....but i think only the ones in the phone's main memory will be wiped out.....The stuff on your storage card and the stuff on the 8/16G memory is left intact...if i were to DIY upgrade, what will be wiped out? i read before, use PIMBackup to backup data and all. ok, that i understand. What about stuff you saved in your storage? e.g. images, music, and stuff...will it wipe out as well? thanks |

QUOTE(claire01 @ Sep 14 2008, 08:26 PM) You could try using SPB Backup and save your backup file onto storage card/ microSD card. I did that while upgrading from G4 to H1. Upon upgrade to H3, you can run your backed up file and everything will return back to normal. yeah would recommend SPB backup as well....though i was wondering......when u create a backup before an upgrade.....shouldnt u not backup the system files....cos otherwise it would overrite the upgrades that u have just installed when u load the backup file? anyone knows? |

QUOTE(claire01 @ Sep 14 2008, 08:54 PM) Oh yeah...you've got a point there, lynxs! Thinking back, that was exactly what happened to me... The 1st time I tried to upgrade to H1, I went to Samsung service centre at Low Yat. Then I ran my backup files (Spb backup), it reverted part of my system to G4! So my PDA was G4, but phone H1. Part of the new features in H1 were there, but part missing. yeah....i think just back up the contacts and files......do a custom back up but uncheck the backup system files.....Good thing you mentioned this. Subsequently, I did the upgrade on my own and reinstall the programs previously installed. Hmm...I wonder if anyone knows whether we can opt to backup some files and omit the files that will overwrite our upgrades? If so, which files should we omit during backup? I know that we can Customize Backup using SPB Backup, like creating backups for Contacts, Tasks only. Thanks! |

QUOTE(destiny6 @ Sep 15 2008, 01:25 AM) i wanna ask bout using GPS, does it need 3G at the first place? i wanna get this phone but, i'm a digi user so means i can't have GPS? a data line is only required if u wanna use enhanced GPS....it just helps u get a satellite fix faster....But if u do not wanna incur data charges....then disable the enhanced GPS and just use GPS.....which is free.... It doesnt matter if u have edge or 3g.....the enhanced gps should be the same on both networks.... |
