Edgar Degas, Four Dancers. c. 1899. Oil on Canvas

Impressionist. I love the brush strokes, I love how unbalanced the painting looks. I love the background.
This is a great painting from Degas. rclxms.gif

Ok enough of french painters. Lets go Dutch!

Vincent van Gogh. Self-Portrait in a Grey Felt Hat. 1887. Oil on card.

Van Gogh. This is my favourite of many self portraits. I really feel the energy from this piece of work.

LOL...
yeah I participated in Worth1000's competition on this before couple years back. Something to do with Modern Impressionism, Modern Renaissance and all that. Great fun!

But lets stick to originals, or else this will turn to /b/ecome something else...

Peter Paul Rubens, The Three Graces. 1628-1630. Oil on canvas

Well due to the fact that this is a nude painting, here is an alternative representation of the Three Graces, by Leon Washington. You should really check out the original

Peter Paul Rubens. Portrait of Susanne Fourment ("Le Chapeau de paille"). c.1625. Oil on panel

17th century painter, Rubens, focus more on religious paintings. Here's a sample of his work. For that time i felt that there was pretty good detail in his works... just, beautiful.

A slight departure from the realm of painters, I present French architect Boulle:

Étienne-Louis Boullée, Deuxieme projet pour la Bibliotheque du Rois , c.1785

The architect was "featured" in Peter Greenaway's movie, "The Belly of an Architect". Great movie, i might add.

The Biting Pear of Salamanca - *ursulav
February 27, 2006

QUOTE
Artist's Comments
A popular tourist attraction of the region, the biting pear lives off low-flying birds, hand-outs, and the occasional unwary sightseer.

----
Don't look at me. I was reading up on pop surrealism before bed, and this is the sort of thing that happens. Even for me, that's a little disturbing.

Also, I may have an unhealthy obsession with pears. This is particularly odd because I haven't eaten a pear in years.

NOTE FOR 4CHAN AND ALL THE REST:

Yes. I know. LOL WUT. Yes, yes. I'm aware. Really, I don't mind that y'all are havin' fun with the image*, the internet is a very silly place and all, but if you could make an effort to include a link to the original when you're posting it, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks!

Anyway! Digital, prints available for $10 and $20 plus shipping--visit [link] or send a note if interested!

If you would like to buy the OFFICIAL, LICENSED, ARTIST-APPROVED pear merchandise--t-shirts, prints, magnets, tote bags, keychains, the lot--mosey on over to [link] for all your biting pear needs.

*As long as it's noncommercial and nobody's making money on lolwut merchandise, of course.
