i dont really see the option to select my GPS devices like what you guys did:

under positioning method, what should i tick??
-bluetooth gps
-assisted gps
-integrated gps
-network base

after i launch garmin, it automatically detecting GPS device (even ask me to turn on bluetooth). but after awhile, it failed and error message return as "no gps device found"..

is it something wrong with my hp?

not really understand what u mean...is it u cannot use the GPS at all?? hmm.gif
i did test the GPS last night using garmin...lock about 5min...A-GPS disable...use Intergrated GPS only...locking position did take some times, but after that its great.. i did try to use diff route from what it state in the garmin, and the phone re-calculate route is fast enough for me to follow... very satisfied with it..smile.gif

**this my 1st GPS device..so dont know if u guys said slower or faster than other phone...its good enough for me biggrin.gif

What Im saying is that the Nokia Map works.
THe problem only exist with the GPS locking.
When I start up the phone, the GPS doesnt seem to be able to get signal from the sattelite.
Now if I turn off GPS and then on again, it lock on almost immediately. This is why I said it was strange.

Well, I have tested N95 at Nokia centre but I didnt really compare the speaker quality before.
Usually things like this come second to my mind whenever I buy a new phone.
Sorry cant offer any opinion about this.

When I buy a new phone, usually I will evaluate the new aspect of the phone like OLED, Software, Firmware, Speed, Usability and the annoyance of it. I rarely compare speaker quality because IMO, LOUD != QUALITY. If wanna compare quality, plug in a good headphone and hear it yourself. N95 is a very matured platform thus stability and speed isnt a problem at all. I just dont like N95 due to the key being small at the front panel. Keypad however is very good. But still I love the LOCK button in N85 which remove the annoyance of having to unlock manually when using it with one hand.

guys, i'm torn between this phone and the Samsung INNOV8 (i8510).

It's the GPS function that's most important to me.

Suggestions ?

EDIT : average battery life has to be good too tongue.gif

Ok seem like the GPS locking problem giving a hellout of me mad.gif

I been switching from 6110 Navigator into N85, and the speed of the GPS locking have been really terrible with constant "satelite signal loss" where it is no where near the accuracy of 6110 hmm.gif .................. and i havent been able to use my garmin so far vmad.gif

first i though it maybe the problem of the latest 5.20 garmin update, but when i read this thread seem like others also having problem on this..

Any one using nokiamaps? is the problem also occur there?

Hope some firmware updates may fix the problem

so far, GPS on my N85 have been great. Both Nokia Maps & Garmin Mobile XT working flawlessly and I've disabled A-GPS and Network in the Positioning settings.

Try off and on GPS (Not Nokia Map).
If I didnt do the steps above, it will not lock in. Once I did that, lock in straight away. Not to mention accurate.
Why not download the newest map.

I haven't used Google Maps b4 but I thought it ain't a navigation system with voice direction.

For navigation w/ voice : yes, u should use the Garmin Mobile XT which I think should be the best for S60 based phones.

is there a difference? i typically install it in the Memory Card. i copy the .sis file into the THEMES folder. then use File manager to go to this folder and click open to install.
