Are Australian Joint degrees/double degrees such as Economics/Law degree qualified by the bar council in Malaysia? Would i be able to do CLP after that?

AFAIK only Melbourne and UWA offer a JD. The other universities are still the standard law degrees. For all intents and purposes a JD is the same as a LLB for admission purposes. This is to say, the rules that govern LLB graduates should apply to JD graduates.

Do note that a JD requires you to have a 1st degree beforehand, and personally there is no advantage. Honestly, there are other law schools in Australia which are less complicated to enter.
*
Would you care to enlighten me? So far, I have only found one Australian University which provides straight LLB Law as a degree, which is ANU-Australian National University.

Are double/joint degrees qualified by the Malaysian Bar council to sit for the CLP as well? Thanks in advance smile.gif

There is other firm that requires written test as well and RDL will interview you based on a subject of law that you mentioned. I know they did it for chambering applicants but not too sure if application for LA requires or nt.

Feel free to ask me anything about the process of chambering and practising.

I'm an A-levels student right now who has applied to several UK unis. I'm planning to study Law as an undergraduate degree, would you please advice on which criteria to look for when choosing universities?

I have applied to QMUL, Manchester, Nottingham. Which one would be the best and why? Are optional modules important? Thank you.

QMUL > Manchester > Nottingham. Why not Leeds or Sheffield or Liverpool?
I transferred during my second year. Assuming you're from HELP, it'll be a b**** to transfer during your third year because of the workload thrown on you. That aside, if you opt for the second year option, it will be easier for you to settle down in a foreign environment and focus more. People going for their third year abroad usually make mistakes in playing too much not be able to cope up later on because of the time constraint.
*
Thanks for your time. biggrin.gif I have decided to firm QMUL as my choice of university.

Could you explain this pattern? (QMUL > Manchester > Nottingham) How are they compared? icon_question.gif

Leeds, sheffield, and liverpool are less famous for their law school.

Hi guys! I'm transferring to UK this September and I'm currently in a dilemma. I have to choose between University of Leeds and Cardiff university now and I'm not so sure which one to go to.

They are both under the Russell Group but I heard that they both have very different teaching method.

Just wondering if anyone could give me some advices on which one to go to. thank you

Cardiff is really famous for law.
The only BPTC to be offered by a Russell group University. Are you entering uni in September this year? biggrin.gif
I'm firming QMUL, insuring Nottingham.

thanks for your reply!
I've decided to take A level for this july intake in MCKL.
I think i will still take Law despite the fact that it will damage my chances to get into UK universities.
I wish to know more about law when i can still have other options.  hmm.gif
However,my a level subject combination is Math,Econ,Accounting,Law..
I hope for the best to get offer letter from UK universities with this combination..
Any advice pls?  laugh.gif
*
Do not take Law as a subject in A-levels if you want entry to top universities in UK. doh.gif
Your lecturers should have advised you about this.

I'm taking Biology, Math, Chem, Accounting. I received all university offers.

My friend, on the other hand, took Math, Econs, Accounting, Law. He received 1 out of 5 university offers.

Good Luck.

Out of Cardiff, Reading, Sheffield, Liverpool, Hull, which one would you guys recommend?

cross out liverpool.

Cardiff is famous for law (among malaysian) another bonus about the uni is that the students are able to take their BPTC on site! (the legal test to become a barrister)

However, BPTC is much more expensive right?

and employment in the UK has become nearly impossible. (for malaysians)

Any area that makes money smile.gif If you decide to go to QMUL, then IP is a good area. But you don't really specialise in your undergrad.
*
Yes, QMUL is really famous for that smile.gif but for LLB, it's just an elective module rclxms.gif
