Business Studies is good smile.gif i took it also haha! the maths there needed not so difficult tongue.gif

Public law ar..damn dry and boring to me la tongue.gif
i just memorize the substance for Public Law and CLR coz the Qs i did was all essay. To do a problem in those subjects quite difficult. That's IMO la..others may think it's easy.
*
problem questions? were there problem questions in PL?

@ jhong

relax la. it's your first class. if u still find it difficult when you've finished your syllabus in march, then u are 'entitled' to get worried. i found PL easy...

i've never understood the repercussions of not completing LAN papers...

but yea, i reckon the book may help, but if it is not a required purchase by the college, maybe it has its own notes and stuff.

there is sleep.gif
i remember something abt electoral law or something like that
both of the subjects also can spot ler..just browse through previous past year Qs. That's how u wanna spot and be prepared in those frequent asked topics. It applies throughout ur whole degree life sleep.gif.

And i wish to disagree with u. If i remember correctly, i didn't find PL topics co-related o_O i read in topic by topic on its own o_O
*
oh ok. i didnt do electoral.

and subject matter for PL is quite co related, tho the questions may not be all the time. i remembered my year had a question which mixed SOP and rule of law. i was like "HUH? for a few mins" but i did it anyway. i think they mix it here and there. but not always. i cant really remember much, but when i was doing PL, i was worried that they might mix major topics in questions because of the links that each topic has with another. and they did it with that sop ques for my year. im sure other years have their own weird mixtures...

hi guys who reading law out there,
help me with some of my doubts, i have intention to take up law course in malaysia, i have business degree done in new zealand few years ago, and to say i have NO stpm or A level qualification as required to sit in CLP, is it wise to enroll as graduate entry for my law course? am i doomed for my life deem not to pratice law in malaysia even i got good degree of law afterward? i heard for graduate entry we only take 9 subjects instead of 12, so my good guess the tution fee will be lower, is this correct? many questions to ask, but up till now, thanks for any helps from you guys.. rclxm9.gif
*
well, if u don't have a stpm or equivalent qualification, you cant join the bar. If u decide to further do the graduate entry programme, i assume with UOL, then u are definitely heading the wrong way, because graduate entry LLBs are not recognised for bar admission purposes

'3.1 The law degree SHALL contain a minimum of 12 substantive law subjects,'

Therefore, your two MAIN options are:
a) do the stpm or an equivalent qual of your choice, do a full LLB, do the CLP

b) do a graduate entry qual, do the uk bar

shall i "reserve" to A level?  shocking.gif  thats a regression! it wont make me any smarter, but just to satisfy the procedural thing for the state.... vmad.gif
anyway, if i have no intention to practice law, it shall do me no harm right?

Added on April 12, 2009, 12:04 amjust to share some of my thoughts, if i was asked why i read law, i would say just want to know about, and i think it is fun to know law. the idea of to be a lawyer and practicing law legally in the state seems not so tempting for me, let alone my opinion of the emergence of kangaroo court in our nation and their ultra conservative stance.
as said, i have done my tertiary education and currently in a decent job with a MNC, "cari makan" shall never be a concern for me with my current condition. however, im inquisitive of everything, law reading may just quench my thirst?  drool.gif  and im expecting intelligence to be challenged, rather just purely dull reading.  biggrin.gif
*
yeah sure, a levels would be a good idea. it's really up to you to weigh your options, if you dun want to practice, a pre u prog will indeed do u no harm except cost u a few ks and time...

...and yes reading law is fun. exams....not so much! there are quite a number of people i personally know who have done the llb as a secondary degree, it is a good programme to stir the mind and develop analytical skills. Your inquisitive persona will definitely appreciate such a course, but it is important that u head to the right college. But i do hope you like to read, because u do need to read quite a bit if u intend to do well. Occasionally u'll encounter a very dry topic, i do think there are quite a number of topics among the subjects that are so. Some ppl however find the transition hard if they're first qualification is very technical. But with due diligence, it shouldn't be a problem...

don't worry about it...just do what u have to do. criminal law is bulky for intermediate stds...just identify the issues in problem questions and argue and argue....besides you only really need to pass unless you are eligible to try for kings then good luck

i thnk u need more luck than me keke smile.gif
3 days in a row cannot la...no time to revise again xD i do succession Qs till wanna vomit already...too sien. And now i forgotten Juris again zzz..gotta revert back soon to Juris sad.gif
r u planning to do Family Provision question for Succession? if lack of case law..how ar? damn Q take so long to write, so many parties zzz there r case law but when i'm writing i tend to forgo it and just based on statutes (since it's more statute based) and by using the facts of the case only sad.gif
*
yes i prepared for an FP question. it's quite straightforward...and i think for it, speed of writing will determine whether u can do well or not, because u really gotta argue on the facts and the situations as to whether each party deserves the the money...know as much case law as possible lor...what to do...but i think based on the statute itself and the sections..will allow u to pass...case laws will help u score...speed of writing will help u get an A for that question....

Uol LLB external offers twinning degree?study at local college for 2 years then transfer to uk.thanks for reply
*
no. you have to do the whole three years locally. it is not a twinning programme, but an external degree. exception is if u get good grades in intermediate you can apply for Queen Mary for entry into Year 2. Some stories of ppl applying for Kings directly after inter as well, but im not sure. View website for details.

Hey.
Anyone here with a copy or two of Blackstone's Statutes for the Law of Evidence?
Anyone selling their statute books?
I've been to MPH and Borders but apparently it's a very popular book that they have none left on the shelves.
All MPH outlets nationwide are out of stock.

And the best part of all is that my Evidence paper is on Wednesday.
Crap.

So, please, if you have a copy or two of it, please PM me. I'm willing to pay for it. However, if you trust me, I would prefer to borrow it HaHa.
I'm from HELP so I can meet any of you from Brickfields or ATC with ease.

Thank you in advance.
*
wow seriously...statute books for popular papers sell out by feb or march. if i had one i'll sell it to you for a hell of a premium, and buy a blackberry

QUOTE(QD_buyer @ May 16 2009, 06:50 PM)
just wanna ask question out of my curiosity

how much roughly is the pay /salary/allowance for chambering student, practice lawyer and lawyer ?
*
well, as xziled says it depends. The legal field, somewhat like with doctors, very much depends on the individual itself. Lawyers are specifically identified, so the better you are, the better you're reputation, the more clients you will have, the higher your fees and the more contracts you can get. Chambering students are like lil pets, so you get an allowance which is not much. I dunno how much, you gotta check it out yourself. But then on, you gotta show what've you got. As with any other field, if u got lubangs, then the faster you can develop and show what you can do. A friend of mine works directly under a very prominent local lawyer who anyone following news on politics would know who, so that person gets to learn very quickly and meets alot of high profile personnel. As a lawyer, there are no limits. There's no real corporate body to climb. You get paid depending on how good you are and depending on what reputation your have. Build it up from day one, and you shud be earn well enough. I know qualified lawyers who earn about RM6k to RM8k at 40 years old. I also know lawyers who earn RM25k to RM30k at 45 years old. I also know a lawyer who earns millions a year.

lesser probably in terms of practical hands on learning then yea...but in terms of subject matter or syllabus, we're more rigorously examined due to it being external exams marked by top professors ranging from unis of queen m, ucl, oxford, bristol etc

yeah, we all will for uol llb. I'm still quite upset my timetable had three papers in a row...was damn tough. Alot of ppl complaining having two llb papers in a row, they shud try and face three. If four, i would have just jumped off a cliff...

was very difficult to do well...hope all future uol llb students dun face such a crappy timetable.
