Haha yes tongue.gif I overexposed it by overcompensating for my +4 close up filter. And I think I overcompensated again trying to correct it.

Added on June 5, 2008, 2:19 pmAnyway this is the original :

Wow, thats the original? The colors looks so artificial. Seems to be like... popping out of the background. hmm.gif

Over-saturated?

Just my 2 cents. I'm still learning also. tongue.gif

Not sure whether it is because of overexposure + distortion from my +4 Close up filter. Anyway both taken with 55-200VR lens 2nd taken with ND X4 filter attached.

The second shot looks underexposed to me. Did you really need the ND filter for the flower shots?

Both the flowers are centred so you might want to play with your composition. Try different angles smile.gif

it looks artificial because image sensors are least sensitive to red color. thus, if you take photos of red objects, very few details will be produced.

Wanted to get some that kind of a look to put more emphasis on the flower not the surroundings. Yes... agree.. should change angle sometimes.. but I normally use the centre focus b'cos it is the fastest to lock on and easier to adjust the DOF.

ND filter only used when you wanna make the sky exposed properly if i am not wrong... you gotta use a CPL to take photos of flower and stuff to enchance the colors...

The main problem with CPL is I never seem to get the position right. Not sure where to turn it.

you only need to turn it when there is reflection..when there is no reflection, the other use of a CPL is to increase the contrast. No need to adjust the filter...

the first shot would be a good example of a very much richer contrast with CPL on...
