Seems that some people still have not gotten over this question of AGP 4x vs AGP 8x , so i decided to do some tests.
From what i see, the difference between 4x and 8x is generally insignificant other than with Far Cry. Future games will probably show a bigger difference.
System specs: radeon 9800np (325/290), AGP aperture size at 256MB, fast writes ON. Abit AI7 BIOS 17 2x512MB Kingston BH-5
RESULTS:
RightMark Video Analyzer
-configfile config<resolution>.cfg -autoexecfile autoexecalchemist.cfg 4x 1024x768 72.90 fps. 1280x1024 77.48 fps.

AGP 8x/4x/2x This is the speed which AGP transfers data from the VGA Card. The larger the number of x, the faster. 1x = 266MB/S, 2X 533MB/S & so on The performance increase from 8X AGP over 4x is only 1-2% usually.
AGP 4X/2X/1X should all be compatabile with 8X/4X/2X/1X mobos. But you need to take note of the 1.5v/3.3v signaling voltage to prevent burning your card out. Notice that some mobo maby facing with not compatible problem and my mobo one of it.
AGP slot/card support status: If AGP 1.0 or 2.0 card is running in 2x, 1x mode it will use 3.3v If AGP 2.0 or 3.0 card is running in 4x mode it will use 1.5v If AGP 3.0 card is running in 8x mode it will use 0.8v
AGP 1.0 slot supports 1x and 2x at 3.3v AGP 2.0 slot supports 1x and 2x at 3.3v AGP 2.0 slot supports 4x at 1.5v
AGP 3.0 slot supports 4x at 1.5v AGP 3.0 slot supports 8x at 0.8v

QUOTE(7cantona @ Aug 2 2019, 05:39 AM) u mean he might b dead ? I'm not saying HE might be dead... just saying some people have moved to the other side. It happened to me... or I should say the online community I was part of. Lost one person on the net who was very crucial to our community... the founding father, you can say. For many months we searched for any news of him, until finally we learned the devastating news that he is never coming back again... ever.
