If i wanted to flash the firmware at my TD, can i send it to any HTC shops without getting charged? How long does it normally take to do that? Mine is original SIS version.
*
To flash, it should take less than 30 minutes, even with radio ROM flashed. About 10 minutes for OS only.

LOL....Never knew SIS is like that.

Anyway, sorry for asking this one too many time but what is Hard SPL, Radio ROM etc?

What benefit do they give you? If they can solve the headache i am having now with the TD, i wont mind paying to get those.

And a few more questions.

I am looking to transfer some Java files (games) into my TD. How do i install those? Do i need some Java application on the TD? I tried copying the JAR files via Microsoft SYNC but it seems that it wont transfer. Weird...

Besides that, had anyone have trouble with the Calender before? Originally, it is always showing by day, meaning, there will be a list of TODO's for the day when you click on Calender. However, i already set the Calender to show it by Month, meaning will always display the days of the month (like a normal hp). When i click on calender, you will see a glimpse it showing in months before switching over to the day format again. Cant seem to get it to show month by default.

Otherwise, get HTC original Y cable. Supports charging, USB and 3.5mm audio jack at the same time. Not sure if FM radio can run. tongue.gif

Yeah, it works with FM radio, but it's not really nice cuz it's kinda large... laugh.gif

your calendar thing is a known issue. check XDA. Hard-spl bypases spl check when u try to flash a cooked rom or a rom from overseas. without hard-spl, flashing such roms may spoil your device. u can read up on the how tos in XDA forum, or if you're lazy, feel free to PM me, i offer the service too.

java games = wont work, u dun have a T9 hardware keypad. so dont bother.

I went to Lowyat Plaza to get a HTC earphone. FM with RDS works like charm with good sound quality. I thought my 838 pro headset does not have antenna lead connection. I came back home happily. CRAP! No reception in Puchong! TD FM radio reception sucks man! Wasted my money buying original HTC earphone.

SPL is a mechanism that loads your operating system, just like how we have BIOS in our computer. With the original SPL, your phone cannot be programmed with another OS ROM in the recovery mode (in case of flashing failure). With HardSPL, the phone can be flashed in tricolour boot mode. Hence, making flashing slightly fail proof.

Radio ROM is the firmware for GSM/WCDMA chipset. It controls every parameter of your PDA's radio including power and frequency. If you experience poor signal quality with the PDA, a new radio ROM may help, but it's not necessary the newest radio ROM that helps. Sometimes downgrade is necessary. Please flash radio ROM cautiously because in case of any failure, even the most godlike HardSPL won't help. It will make your Diamond a phoneless PDA. No one reported JTAG connection for diamond yet, so it may be very very difficult to recover.

Do you have Jblend? Install your Java application through that supplied software.

Hey, after you get it, do tell us how well the quality is... I was contemplating on getting one of those, but thinking it's gonna make the sound quality worse compared to normal MP3 players... laugh.gif

Ok. Most probably in three months time.

Well, after a few tries, i finally understand why i could copy those JAR programs into my phone. The name is TOO LONG. LOL..

For some reason, if the name is too long, it just wont be transfered into the phone. Renaming it into a shorter form will allow it to be transfered into it. Tried installing a few games that was said to be working on the TD. None loaded successfully. Gave up on that. Just thinking whether there is any good games recommended on the TD so that i can play them when i have some free time tongue.gif

Thanks for the tips given. Now i realise whats the difference. So, in that case, we need to perform a HARD SPL before we could install "third party ROM"? I believe its called Cooked ROM or something similar right?

I have Jblend installed onto my phone.

Yes, cooked ROM/third party ROM requires HardSPL. I have tried flashing a HTC Trinity without HardSPL, it will fail about 80% and fall back to the previous ROM. Reason is stated by Baronic.

This is the so called Y cable for diamond. Many versions are available from HTC. They all support 3 function at once; charging, listening to 3.5mm earphones and USB transfer.

I guess it should work appropriately on your work table. Who would charge the PDA and listen to music simultaneously while walking right? Haha..

Anyone have the CAB file to support east asian language? The QVGA CAB file didn't work on diamond.

My diamond can't read chinese characters, just like my Dopod 838 Pro. For QVGA device, I have the CAB file to enable east asian languages such as chinese, korean and japanese. Now I need one that supports VGA.
