one minute? if it is on a fair weather.. it is considered a quite long time.

hoping to see a GPS review for this gadget smile.gif

GPS is quite accurate, i walked out of the house to get a fix, it fixes in a couple of seconds less than a min i would wink.gif

QUOTE(damagedigital @ Jun 8 2008, 04:49 AM)
i'm using memmaid..been using it since my 1st encounter with a pda phone couple of years back..quite good...but basically there's alot out there like beside memmaid like sktools for example...

btw just a silly question..htc claim that the ROM size is 256 n RAM is 192 but why I'm only seeing ROM = 83.6 n RAM=113.7 oni?
*
Thanks for the info wink.gif

I'm using RESCO FILE EXPLORER and it comes with RESCO REGISTRY EDIT

@^Hobbes^, added u, oh, and u MUST go outta house for GPS. ANy GPS device is like this bro. And 1 min for GPS track is actually very very fast, for a first time. GPS track depends on how many high rise buildings around u, and how bad the weather is.

Thanks for the info wink.gif

UPDATE ON SMS BUG: There appears to be bug in the current rom, where sometimes although someone sends u an sms, your phone does not make a sound or vibrate. But the moment u switch your pda screen on, it immediately beeps/vibrates. This is apparently still an issue on all HTC Diamonds world wide. The occurence seems to be random. As in once in a while, this happens. U'll know it happened if when you wake up your Diamond, and u receive the sms alert, look at the time stamp, and its earlier than the current time
*
I thought there is a fix for it already over in xda forums?
Where u need to tweak ur registry?

When u install resco explorer from the PC, u can choose install options right? there's a part u must tick "Resco Registry Edit". It comes bundled in Resco Explorer. If u did that, it'll install it. Dont open Resco Explorer. Look for Resco Registry Edit. Different program. Its just bundled together
*
I installed it from a CAB file worrr sad.gif

I oni have resco system info and resco explorer

So there is a downside to it after all?
Just like overclocking it?

I havent do any tweaks or whatsoever laugh.gif

i did the recommended tweaks using schap advanced config and the touchflo performance improved significantly smile.gif

However, note that SKYPE does not work with WM6.1. THis is apparently a known issue. Think Skype is working on it, based on their forum.
*
So did you experience any significant battery drain ?

Do i turn on the Agps or turn it off?

Saw the option in Schaps Advanced Config

I know AGPS may use the GPRS for data, so if i turned it on while i rake up an enormous bill?

It took mine about 10 mins to get a fix sad.gif

I tot the Diamond came with EGPS?
But in HTC's website i oni saw AGPS?

hey what do you guys recommend to use as a registry editor?  i know there a few out there - wanted to see what LYN forumers recommend...  thanks!
*
I am using Resco File Explorer, you may also try memaid

QUOTE(Seaedge @ Jun 9 2008, 02:32 PM)
Agps is to help you get faster fix, so if u turn it off, you might get slow fix during cold start. if i am not mistaken, Egps is the name of Agps for HTC; HP wise will be QuikGPS. It is used to download the data and it supposed to last 3 days so it wont update as often as Nokia...

aj350z: i use regedit.. free and useful at all times..
*
But i cant seem to find EGPS setting for the Diamond

Wah if download data on GPRS quite expensive wor, luckily its turned off by default

Thanks seaedge notworthy.gif

i think it has been disscuss before la bro...but nvm la

1) memmaid( i use this one)
2) sktools
3) resco explorer that comes with the registry editor option...

well depends of ur preference actually...personally i choose memmaid due to the ease of use..and it also includes other tools as well ie:reclaim memory and a cleaner (that clean ur storage space from dead registry, bad apps link etc)

if I'm not mistaken diamond also have the quick gps utility...data can be dpwnloaded via wifi no need gprs or 3g for that...FYI from cold start i can get a fix in less than 10sec...using mapking 2007 n mapking G12..
*
For the reclaim memory wat does it do?
Clear your mem cache?

Have but it says expire laugh.gif
The thing about diamond is i cant seem to set it to use wifi oni, the settings all point towards ISP and no option for AP

Wa that is fast, it took mine 10 min vmad.gif

if you're not connected to the wifi when u press download in quickgps it'll download the data via GPRS/3G/Edge....u need to connect to wifi 1st then press download in quickgps..

yup..hard reset will reset/wipe out everything...it will be just like when you 1st got ur diamond from the shop...(but everything i the internal memory [the 4gb ones] will still be there)
*
Ahh ic
And the weather thing it updates through internet connection right?
I find no info about wat medium it uses to update?

Same wif quickgps as well?

Just to clarify some mistakes regarding for Egps and Agps i said previously.

QUOTE(wikipedia)
Enhanced GPS (or E-GPS, EGPS, trademarked as eGPS) is a technology designed for mobile phones on GSM and W-CDMA networks, to augment GPS signals to deliver faster location fixes, lower cost implementations and reduced power and processing requirements. It is being developed by CSR who has partnered with Motorola &endash; together they intend to create an open industry forum.

According to CSR, EGPS delivers a "universal positioning capability that will not only work reliably indoors and in zero GPS signal conditions, but greatly speed time to fix in poor GPS reception areas where most handsets are used." More specifically, it can "exploit data available from the cellular network to speed GPS fixes and provide complementary, fast, and reliable location sensing when GPS signals are weak or unavailable." CSR is hoping to add eGPS capabilities to handsets for under $1 per unit.

E-GPS combines CSR's "Matrix" technology with GPS – when a user initiates a location request they get a Matrix location instantly using cell tower information, accurate to within 100m. Then CSR's "Fine Time Aiding" helps the device know where to look for a GPS signal, to quickly acquire satellite information within seconds. Fine Time Aiding enables a more aggressive search and is claimed to be equivalent to 6 dB more sensitivity than can be achieved by any GPS hardware correlator in the terminal.

CSR claim that this enables software-only GPS solutions to operate reliably in all environments, and that eGPS is superior to Assisted GPS. EGPS technologies are due in 2008.
oh yeah... damagedigital, if ur gps can fix 10sec n below.. its call hotstart. coldstart usually takes near 45sec-1min. and hobbes case, its called annonymous start where it is fresh start without any data for fix. the shortest for annonymous start is 90sec and can take as long as 30min if it is not under clear sky.
*
Yes i think i got annonymous start damm long weiii
But after it starts, i close the gps and i turn it back on, it fixed in like <5 second

Thanks for the information seaedge notworthy.gif

But i dont see any options to turn on EGPS for my Diamond sad.gif
