Okay, thats it.. the improvements are too tempting! I will be HardSPLing my TD if SiS could not provide a public release for the 1.93 ROM by this Saturday, 26th June 2008. I will list out every steps and provide all files needed for this in my blog if its a success, if not, please attend my TD's funeral..

Unless your PC suddenly hangs or become unstable or the electricity supply went off, I don't see any potential risks at all if you understand what you're doing. Although the Hard-SPL-ing procedure carries a certain amount of risk, it is a step in the right direction when upgrading to a custom ROM. In fact, it is the safest when compared to soft-SPL.

However, you need to remember which SPL version is compatible with which ROM. Most XDA-Developers follows one single SPL type so there's no problem there. Just be consistent with your SPL choices. Signed for Signed ROMs and Unsigned for the rest. When you're going back to stock factory standard, be sure to downgrade your ROM first before loading the stock signed SPL. Otherwise you get a brick there too.

u seem to worry about brick aren't you? well, the concern is valid. if you aren't comfortable (despite fella forumer tells you how good and safe to do so..) with the risk of custom rom flashing, by all means, DON'T DO IT!

the very first time i flashed my dopod d810 is after 3 months of study on XDA developer forum. and with that little Hard-SPL flashed a year ago, i flashed to cooked rom every now and then (average twice a month). and d810 is slightly expensive than yours (price a year ago). *touch wood* so far so good.

you already have two big-size guinea pigs here (baronic & davidmak), hope that adds on to your confident level. otherwise, pull your brake.

Yes, that was actually my idea. To have all the steps and files used for a "successful" HardSPL. That is, "IF" I am successful..

Depends on whether r u using TFLO. If yes, go to settings->wallpaper->select where u saved the pictures

If u`re not using TFLO, go to the windows setting, click on Today and under appearances, tick the "Use this picture as the backgroud" and browse for the pic.

For ringtones, you can either use MP3, WAV and WMA formats. Place these files on the main memory's My Documents>My Ringtones folder. For notifications, you're only limited to WAV formats. Place these files on the main memory Windows root folder. Just dump in there and it should appear on when you want to select it.

However, for alarm (although the above should apply), I am unable to replicate it on my Touch Diamond. Need more help here.

As for you clock keep changing, maybe you should turn off 'auto time update'??? Probably your PC time is not set accordingly and causing it to update when you sync or your telco is updating your time? Anyway I have not encounter this problem other than the Manila is flipping and flipping when I have turn off the screen for extended periods of time, like more than 8 hours. That is a bug though which existed even on ROM 1.37.

davidmak, hw do i turn off the auto time update?

btw of the diamond tweaks i hv read is this 2. Boost TFL3D Performance --> HKLM\System\Storagemanager\Fatfs and change key Cachesize from 16384 to 32768

How do i perform this tweak? No idea on what's HKLM =(

Read through the postings, no. 2 seems to cause some stability issues. Better u just do no. 1.

Try to not touch that No.2 part. That is a registry setting and you would need a registry editor to do it. We have scattered reports that performing that No.2 tweak may cause instability problems with the Touch Diamond. So better leave it. On the other hand, if you have flashed to TLR V3 ROM, then this tweak is already incorporated.

The message tone can be set in the Settings>Sounds & Notifications section. Again, you have to dump WAV files into Main Storage>Windows root folder for it to show up for selection.

@precise, use developer hard-spl. i cant seem to access the page now, so dun know which "two" files u refering to, last i check there was one. Just use developer hard-spl all will be fine. u wun have to worry already.

as for net 3.5 framework, read the rom details, different roms different content.
