what's so hard to check compatibility? just make sure the earphone/headphone uses 3.5 mm jack.. sure fit.

you go to 5 ringgit store buy earphone oso will work as long as its 3.5 mm.

ipod is using 3.5 mm jack also.. because that is the most common headphone jack in the world.. about 90% of earphone jack is 3.5 mm.. except for most sony ericsson phones because they think they are more "special"

but then.you can check apple website, the one inear earphone also 3.5mm jack but it writes there not compatible with nano 2nd generation.

Ipod nano lanyard earphone

Apple in ear

Apple earphone with remote n mic

you see all three and tell me what makes only one type can compatible with nano 2nd generation.

The solution is the Philips model. Sennheiser doesn't has it if my memory serve me right.

Philips got certain range of product got paid royalty to iPod to use their design thus they can carry iPod/Mac original style logo not like others only mention iPod in font.

i'm assuming that your friend has an ipod nano 2G.

for both the in-ear earphone and earphone with mic and remote, ONLY the MIC AND REMOTE will not work with other ipod nano generation besides 4th gen ipod nano. this is due to hardware and firmware limitations in the older ipod nanos.. however, the audio WILL still work.

the lanyard already stated that it will work for 2nd gen nano. so it's not a problem if you want to buy this for ur friend.

the mic and remote is a new function introduced by apple recently. it can only be used for the newest ipod nano 4G/ipod touch 2G/classic/ shuffle 3rd gen. therefore, if you still insist to buy this earphone/in-ear, you can still listen music from it.. just that you cant use those mic/remote functions.

for sennheisser earphones, i'm still not sure if they already release earphones that supports the mic and remote function yet.. but if you just want basic function like listen music, almost all of the sennheiser earphone will still work regardless of which generation as long as it writes 3.5 mm jack

Added on May 10, 2009, 10:17 pmanother clarification, which type of earphone you wanna buy actually? isit the one with lanyard?
