Bought my Optoma HD65 from htkaki 3 months ago , it was a complete set with the screen and the cables. I was more than happy as the price was reasonable compared to a PJ shop which quoted me almost RM3K more for the same package. Installation also been arrange by htkaki which was done neatly with high-tech laser guidance system to arrange the PJ and screen accurately, no joke!
I watched my first movie '300' and to my disappointment the worst nightmare struck me, THE RAINBOW EFFECT. After watching for 10 minutes or so i was getting very uncomfortable eye strain. I read about the effect in the forums, and they say only 5% of population will experience it , well i thought 'nah' what are the chances and went on buying the PJ. I played other movies, same pain and later invited my friend to watch it but he didn't felt the effect. So that confirms, and i'm so damn F***ED
I hooked up Philip HTS3366 home theater system and Wii to the HD65, everything just fitted nice in my budget. Sound and video was excellent. The HD upscaling feature saves my day with my xvid movies and tv-series. I don't notice any big difference in quality when i play DVD and DivX from USB. I know it would make a lot of difference with Bluray and .mkv but that have to wait, i rather watch good movies in cinema.
I would say the PJ and Wii combo is the holygrail of entertainment. To tell you the truth i'm not gamer, and never really liked playing PS games that have to use very hard joystick controls. It was very simple with Wii, which was using motion movements. The just released Starwars: forces unleased gives you to hold the light saber in your hand, imagine swinging light saber and fighting your opponent on a big screen
I feel sorry for those who are spending alot of bucks for the LCD and Plasma . If for once they feel the experience with PJ, there will be no turning back to LCD/plasma craps. Almost all my friends impressed with my 82inch PJ setup, they all had the same misconception seeing the PJ quality on mamak restaurants, i had it too once.
My final word, no regrets
