did your bulb paucha? for my case below 100 hours half way watching paucah.. anyway optoma's distributor very good .. i bought from hiway laser n they claimed it from the distributor for me very very fast..  Not like our friend who bought AE from the irresponsible rubbish hifi shop who sold him product without a distributor here.. pui!  hopefully hd65 wont be like the previous model of optoma .. BREAKDOWN KING!!
*
i am sure the bulb didnt pecah
i was watching BD half way and work at the same time
so occasionally head turns to watch a bit then continue working.
i didnt hear any breaking sound , the screen just went black and the lamp doesnt seems to light on anymore
when i try to power on it , there is clicking sound as if the HD65 trying to turn it self on.
hopefully i can get back mine asap since holiday coming and i have lots of sealed BD since early August.

Canot jump to conclusions yet until more similar cases appear. So far LYN only 2 cases of bulb pecah and 1 case power auto-off(maybe due to heat problem?)

And IIRC no mention of such cases in AVForum and AVSForum. biggrin.gif

No worries, shud be ok wan. Worst case claim warranty lah. biggrin.gif

My 1st symptoms is like Rx's uncle PJ . auto shutdown but later can power on.
Well i got no complain abt optoma service . They r pretty fast and efficient evnthough they r doing demo somewhere , they still make effort to collect it and try to return to me within 3 days. My room is fully air conditioned almost 18 hours a day ( bro and frens usually gaming in my room after skool ) so heat problem is definitely out . They told me this is a small problem and not that rare mostly probably short circuit ( which i failed to understand as my place is fully protected by surge protector and power conditioner) . I really appreciate vismart / optoma for the fast and prompt reply .

coz i chicken brand ma takut overheat...

Added on September 23, 2008, 9:46 pm

reading back the avs thread, the optoma tech guy actually said kenot move it within 5min nia after shutting down.. but he did say kenot say kenot turn it on within 8 hours after shutting down .. need to wait till the bulb has totally cooled down.. wonder y 8 hours so extreme
*
er what i heard from the optoma sales rep said as long as the bulb cool down , u can switch it back on .
the more u switch it on and off the easier the bulb spoil , like if u watch 6 hours straight then fine but if on and off 4 to 5 times a day then the bulb wont last as long as u watch 6 hour straight. but again if the myth of 8 hours cool down is true , no point getting a PJ to suffer laugh.gif

So far, I have not receive any complaint yet on the bulb 'paucah' (touch wood). All in all, more than 20 units. Only 1 time whereby the bulb burnt open  switched on for testing.

Oh yes, do you guys use automated power regulator for your pj?
*
i use power conditioner
same rite?

U know those melamin board they use to make furnitures/cabinets? There's a kind of sticker they use to stick onto the wood panel to make it look smooth. It's white in color and made of pvc i think. So they just paste that thing onto the plywood. no need to paint oso very white. biggrin.gif

EDIT: Hi all, early morning post biggrin.gif

I've posted here some pictures of my screen. I wanted a 106" diag screen, so the width is 52" and it's more than 4. Normal board size is 4'x6', so they have to combine 2 boards to make a 92"x52" board and thus there is a line in the middle of the screen sad.gif

I still have no chance to test out the screen  vmad.gif but if i m not happy with the result, i can always wrap it with PJ screen cloth biggrin.gif

Hmm, never thought about reflections. THen i think no choice have to find something to wrap around it or paint with matte paint biggrin.gif

If all else fails then have to buy a screen liao lor. Where to find 7' x 7' screen for RM250? hehe.
*

Projector is ok bro. Enjoying it every night with 720p feeds. Missus enjoying latest season of Desperate Housewives, CSI, Numb3rs etc @ 720p @ 120" hehehe. Clocked almost 30hrs already. Forgot to switch off twice already coz ter-sleep. Luckily aircond room, left it on for 7-8 hrs tongue.gif

Screen project on hold for a while. Due to minor reno, have to move my masterbedroom into the HT room. Once i free up the HT room i'll get the screen up. Now a bit itchy ass wan to modify my 106" screen to 110", have to add 2" wood to left, right and bottom of the screen. Going from 120" to 106" will be potong steam, so decided to go for 110" , in the middle hehe. But still haven't buy kain for the projector. Most prob will go for the ebay wan if i decided to buy. biggrin.gif

I m downloading the manual right now. It's a phreaking 29mb file sleep.gif'

Does this happened after it was returned to you? Do not try to clean it by yourself. Get them to do it.
*

i was wondering if the lense got scratched or something laugh.gif

my old room is 10 x 8 feet still fine with 70"
now with 22X16 , i can easily go 120" with throw distance of 14 feet laugh.gif
so i doubt space is a real problem here unless u have 4 x 4 ft room

sent my hd65 on monday for repair and the techie later calls me to say nothing wrong-PJ working normally!!

there were 2 other hd65 there for repairs.

so went back next day to collect back and now set-up working again. no problems.

have now rechecked the electrical wiring, just in case, and adjust aircon to blow into it to ensure no overheating.

so now have to hope that any problems if any happen during warranty.

indicator shows overheat ar?

I didnt have this problem. So far, Synco, ycs, toytoy and you only. Nira_110 with the highest usage (+600hrs) didnt encounter any problem.

Btw, do all of you using 1 wall socket to connect all gears? Anyway, have you contact the technician, Chen?
*
1 wall socket for me with AVR
actually i know whats the problem with my unit . it is due to me kept switching on and off lol and not letting the bulb to cool down completely .
Thanks to vismart ppl that gives me a short lecture icon_rolleyes.gif
mine so far clocked 120 hours
