I hope below are myths especially no.2 - 4.

Cos it's common to turn on projector multiple times in a day. And also during installation, it's common to move projector while switched on.

As i mentioned b4 these r extreme guidelines .. and only chicken brand ppl like me will follow the stupid guidelines.. n most of the time ppl like me will get the defect unit heheh

Try to burn in ur projector. Don treat it so nice. Switch it on a few times a day, move it around, swing it up and down. Torture it 9 9. Once u make it past 100hrs ur unit will be immuned to all destructions alike. Invincible tongue.gif

Disclaimer: The above mentioned are for reference only. I will not be held responsible for ur hd65 whatsoever biggrin.gif

Sorry to hear this bad news on this PJ, I actually plan to get one unit of H6D65 today, but after rounds of thinking... I am giving up this desire for now and just relying on my Sony 40" LCD KLV-400V300A.

Anyway, heard the after sales maintenance is quite responsive and well handle, I am sure your unit will be back on business within days!

Not trying to be a sour grape wink.gif . There are a number of problems with LCD TV too. Dead pixel is one of the major problem. I would not want to disclose the brand here.

Sometime, it is due to luck. Nira has clocked a few hundred hours with her HD65 w/o problem smile.gif

Every item do has their Pro & Cons... in this case... is space vs money vs quality.

I actually do have 2x Sony Bravia LCD, one is 40" and another is 32". But as an avid Movie fella. I always intend to upgrade to projector with Optoma HD65 in my top selection. Issues that I have is to spent $ engage the equipment which I may ended up wasting my LCDs... moreover... it is about 3K++, not 300+.... Sian! yawn.gif

And of course... space for big screen and WIFE also another 2 major hurdles that I need to pass! sad.gif

Actually, I am in IT business and I do know sometimes, "Shit!" happened for some unlucky electronic units. That's why warranty and maintenance is important as part of the purchasing aspect for keeping customer/user happy with the money they paid vs the quality of product they get.
I believe Optoma HD65 is a decent good quality product supported by a good local distributing company. So far I see they manage to attract so many users with quite minimum after sales technical issues which we dont see any "non-repairable" status.

For the offerred price tag vs the features, not many other is getting close to this unit. That's why this model will be my top PJ hunting priority.

The issue that stopping my intention to get this PJ is due to:

I am owned 40" LCD - Sony Bravia using it as HT monitor connect to Durian-Player, if get another
My consider my AV room small, 11ft x 8.5ft, thus... PJ screen and playback size might be an issue...

if I can overcome these 2 hurdles.. definitely buy!. Actually, my home minister already approved liao! rclxms.gif

11x8.5ft might be a bit limiting for a projector.....

seems that the biggest screen you can fit is a 89" diag 16:9 screen...i am assuming that it will be ceiling mounted and about 10'5" throw to the screen.

then again, i'd still try and put a projector in there...hehehe.

my old room is 10 x 8 feet still fine with 70"
now with 22X16 , i can easily go 120" with throw distance of 14 feet laugh.gif
so i doubt space is a real problem here unless u have 4 x 4 ft room

I put mine at abt 12'. Getting 92" out of it. Wow, a big room there. Mine is only 10' x 20'.

89" screen will easily 'squashed' a 50" let alone 40" screen. It is abt 4 times the size of 40". I think rx330 will surely agree with me as his Panny plasma is collecting dust now tongue.gif

the 89" is the biggest possible....there could be other obstacle which has not been taken into consideration....

anyway, like i said i'd still put a projector in there.....and i do agree that 89" is still better than those 50 and 40".

this aside....i do use my 42" TV still.....it alternate btwn the pj and the TV....depending on the mood...hehe

As for me, HD65 purely for movie or concert watching. As for Astro, still rely on 43" in living hall, which my HM normally occupies for her WLT.

I seldom watch tv programmes too. Only sports and at times, those comedy and NatGeo.

Most of the time, HM is using it. Using HD65 to watch all DVDs, mkv files, and BDs.

Just bought a voltage regulator for the projector, after reading all those scary news. Cheap RM70 KOSS brand.

After almost a month finally i am able to post some screen shots hehe. The pictures are taken with Panasonic FX-9 PnS camera without a tripod and without pausing the scene. So it might be a bit blur tongue.gif I've sent RGB Gain/Bias to 0 and Contrast 3, Brightness -3 and Sharpness 3, BC 2 and TV 1. Image projected on yellowish/creamy wall @ 122" biggrin.gif
