Just bought earlier 70 lots at 7.49. Cimb also feel like averaging down, see how. Slowly moving fd into bank stocks since missed boat on mahsing and gloves stock. Slow and steady I hope. Oh also last month went into bat at 10.50. Let's see how dividend blue-chip play turns out.

Did you know that if you bought BAT in 2015 for its dividends and held it till today....you would have lost money big time?
*
Ya I know. But at 10.50 let's see how. Plan to average down once if it drops below 10 then that's it. Cimb I am down 20% because I bought from 4 to 5.5. Sad.

Thinking of selling maybank for quick profit. But scared it wouldn't drop back to 7.5, I am actually investing for long term for dividend purpose... ie retirement

Dividends @13.5sen, DRP @7.68. If share price can remain above RM8, DRP seems like a good deal

Hi first time owning maybank. This drp process is maybank will send you a form to opt in? Pay rm10 stamp duty?

I have not receive anything yet. If no action means choose cash?

Last time, I would wait for a physical form to arrive from Tricor (the registrar handling Maybank corporate exercises such as dividends). But depending on your mail service, you may receive the form late and won't have time to post it back to Tricor.

Since last year, it's no longer necessary to wait for the physical form if you register for an account with Tricor. Link: https://tiih.online/
With this, you can fill out your DRP form and pay the RM10 online and it's done. Quite simple as I've done it last year with no hassle.

Warning: you will need to upload a copy of your IC to Tricor. So depending on comfortable you are with that, you may not want to register for it. Although for me, there has been no issue.
*
Thanks for the fast response. This tricor for all drp? Mine previously for cimb also paper. And yes always arrive after deadline or left few days. If tricor is for all bursa shares then I will register. Then again I might opt for cash, you never know if the shares will drop back all time low. Regret not buying more for bank stocks etc, now also don't dare to go in. The world economy is really bad actually, with so many people losing jobs.

Or

Try CIMB. CIMB has a lot more upside before reaching pre-covid of RM5.2
*
Thanks bro. Do you have the pre covid price of Maybank? Seems like if cimb hits rm5, can sell.

pre covid price of Maybank?
Highest pre covid price was at about 8.75, yesterday was traded higher than this price.

Maybank just traded higher than precovid price, so can it go higher?
Elliot wave theory suggests so (we are still in the 3rd wave), and there are already a lot of KLCI banks that went up higher after breaking the pre-covid price e.g. PBB, HLB, MBB, RHB

Now, we all know that the only KLCI bank that has not break pre-covid price is CIMB.
Dont you want to place more bets on CIMB instead? When CIMB regains its highest pre-covid price of 5.33, it will bring you a return of 19.78% as of current price of 4.45.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

If cimb hits rm5, can sell.
I wont sell an uptrend stock until the momentum is lost with confirmed downtrend pattern. Just keep holding all you banks until the finance index starts turning ugly
*
Thanks for the advice. What's the XXXXX?

Nope not planning to buy more banks stocks. This Monday if uptrend continues I might sell BAT and Maybank. CIMB maybe wait until 5. Key is sometimes you just don't know trend goes which way especially for sudden news. Do you foresee another meltdown?

I think CIMB back to precovid is more likely. Also 22 to 24 is only 9% upside, compared to cimb to precovid is 20% upside. Better rewards there in CIMB.
Do you foresee another meltdown?
maybe when will IB start washing the weak holders.
*
Yes I do foresee another meltdown, just don't know when and how low it will go. I have already cleared all my stocks in the US market (though keeps going up...), nothing I can do with the UT and bonds I bought. So if market continues to go up, my UT and bonds will at least prosper. If meltdown I will have to sell off immediately (war, vaccine not working, etc).

Let's see how. Hard to resist the temptation to not sell when you see your portfolio from negative 20% to positive 10%.... 30% swing. I have the habit of closing book if possible every year end to reflect on the P/L for the year. US market I already closed book with exception to some gold I have that's slightly underwater.

I'm alrdy 35% profit on CIMB....but I don't feel the need to take profit..like where else to put my money? Glove?

Seeing the strong glove counters trending down, I'll probably pick some up
*
Normally when I take profit, the money will just continue to be in the brokerage account waiting for dip. Of course if it doesn't dip and continues to go up, then time to kick myself...

Still holding on to all my MBB bought last year, even before any Covid appear. Not going to sell it although my ABP is high at 9.08. I believe in the fundamentals and growth of Malaysia's biggest bank. Some may argue that MBB's assets are riskier, but I feel that for a bank that has been growing for the past 60 years since it was founded in 1960, they would have made provisions for the riskier assets.

I am just waiting to collect more dividends only as I foresee the dividends would return back to normal rate of at least 55 sen. That would still give me a 6% yield.
*
Seriously I am like your thinking. But the urge to sell is too much. Seems like banks have gone up too high, especially Maybank pre covid level. But you have to know this, the economy is really bad now. And with low interest rates, I truly feel correction coming. I think I will sell my Maybank and keep CIMB until rm5.

Do you know when bursa short selling ends? Supposed to be 31st Dec, but recent budget did not mention this.

About 10% discount from current price. I will take it

I will wait until 3rd Jan to see the price then decide. Online application should be instant right? The rm10 + rm3 rip off though... 😂

This is my first time doing this, what number should I fill in "Number of new Maybank Shares that you elect to subscribe for under
the Reinvestment Option at RM7.680 per Maybank Share" ??

Thanks

Answer is Yes. But I would recommend you to do it online instead. I would subscribe to the whole lot number, ie 100 if I were you. But I plan to see the price of Maybank then subscribe online if still above RM8 on 3rd Jan 2021. Need to register online though....

Then you better do it fast, since Christmas plus new year holidays. Just FYI, my broker recommended I take money. And from my past experience with CIMB DRP, actually now still at lost even though I plan to go long term too. Might as well take the dividend to buy when it goes below RM7.68 (assuming it does) and saves all the trouble of getting the stamp and mail in.... I used to go to my broker, pay them RM10 for them to mail in for me. LOL. Not sure if CIMB provides online, based on a bro here apparently different agency.

Quick update, I already subscribed to the Maybank DRP. At current price vs purchase price of RM7.68, too hard to ignore. If Maybank drops back below RM7.68, so be it. I subscribed all, including odd shares. Will make it whole in the next couple of DRP.
