ya i know, but buying 100 shares, probably i'll lose more in terms of brokerage fee la... must gain a lot from capital appreciate to cover the minimum brokerage fee... dividend yield aside, I don't really see point of buying 100 shares, except for those really humongous ones like bat, nestle, dutch lady and etc.
*
doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Brokerage is ALSO RELATIVE lar

u buy XX lot of 100 shares for RM10,000, brokerage RMX
u buy X lot of of 1,000 shares for RM10,000, brokerage ALSO RMX

No difference okay... sweat.gif

That's what I was trying to say...see VALUE, not no. of shares/lots...

QUOTE(tehoice @ Sep 25 2013, 05:28 PM)
I think I’m not clear enough on what I’m trying to say.

Let’s say you set to sell after  certain % appreciation.

You buy,

A share - RM0.10 x 100 shares = RM10
- Brokerage fee at least RM8, stamp duty RM1, clearing fee negligible.
- So total about RM19 spent for 100 A shares.

Say, you sell the share at RM0.20 (100% capital appreciation).
Brokerage fee at least RM8, stamp duty RM1, clearing fee negligible.

So you get back = RM11 for the sell. Paid RM19, get back RM11 = still at loss of 8 bucks.

Make no sense to buy 100 shares here isn’t it? It would be different if you are buying 100 BAT shares. Brokerage fee applicable to this 100 Bat shares for me is 0.42%, and it would make difference already.

I get what you mean, and I know this is too extreme, but this is what I’m trying to say only.
*
Let us end the argument here by:

Big price shares = u buy 100 share lot also worthwhile
Small price shares = u buy 100 share lot not worthwhile

Ok? wink.gif

Back to the original question:

Maybank share is RM10
U buy 3 lots of 100 shares already RM3,000
Assuming min. brokerage of 0.42% like in ur case, it's already RM12.60, above min. of RM8 already, so it's worthwhile. Why need to stretch until 1,000 shares lot size?

Yes, MBB is Malaysia's biggest bank and is a blue chip country.
Early 2009 just RM3.50 and now nearly RM10.

But it yields highest among the bank stocks, it just doesn't make sense to me rclxub.gif

You can convert Hupseng to Maybank if you think Hupseng is overvaluation. I'm thinking whether I should let go Hupseng or not also.

Totally let go, unlikely. But reduce exposure, maybe. nod.gif

How to reduce? Like me, I don't have much with me. Sell 50% and keep 50%?
*
Hold on hold on

Just input 2013 Q2 financial data and extrapolated (a very rough extrapolation, just divide 6 x 12) into full 12-months data
Assuming a more sustainable 90% payout ratio (actual payout for past 4 years actually averaged >100%)

Ping Pong actually still yields 5.8% at last closing price of 5.10 thumbup.gif

Revenue growing at 4%+ p.a.
Net profit growing at 10% p.a.

Why dump? wink.gif

If it's really a good company/investment, by right investors would have snapped it up like hot cakes, it should not be yielding 5%++, the highest among the big bank stocks.

Because at the current situation, the growth rate is limited. About 70% of the profit still generate from Malaysia. Unless Singapore segment can contribute more significantly, then it might surge further.

Maybank at Singapore is like some bangla bank, small small branches, totally cannot fight with DBS, UOB and OCBC laugh.gif
