How many of you have approached a metrosexual guy and feel secure starting a relationship beyond friendship? In case u dont know what is metrosexual, here are the defination and checklist:

"A metrosexual is a man who spends a certain amount of time and money on his lifestyle, specifically his appearance. Here are a few questions that will help you to ascertain whether or not you are, indeed, a metrosexual."

Probabily gay men will hit on them, and they carry a purse most likely a designer brand that u ladies cannot pronouse if u are not into it. They are aware of the color of the stock they are wearing, and its purpose serving that particular day, which is, it went well with the outfit. You will find they use more than one hair product, and YES, they refer them as products. They have more ways to remove hair other than shaving, such as waxing, tweezing, electrolysis or laser. When they are unease, spa is their friend, they will go for the paraffin dip to calm themselve.. Manicures, pedicures, facials and exfoliation are all part of a metrosexual's routine. Bonus points if they see a stylist socially. One more thing, they do borrow products from the woman in their life, such as lotion, tissue and such.

If the guy u know who possess 2 or more of the above qualities, you've found a metro countryman. Oh, just a simple example, Ryan Seacrest is an example of Metrosexual man.

Thread Approved.

This thread is strictly NOT for metrosexual guy-bashing [NO GO on metrosexual guy is gay and the likes!].

If you have nothing constructive to share, stay out.

i care about my appearance.
i spent more money on branded clothing, on hair treatment on facial care.
i dont feel comfortable if my appearance doesnt match.
most important is, im a straight guy. not a gay. flex.gif

Well, it's not about me feeling secure or not (or maybe it is?) dating a metrosexual guy, it's more whether I LIKE being around guys like that.

I used to date a guy from Hong Kong, although I wouldn't go so far as labeling him a Metrosexual guy, but he spends a lot of time doing his hair and "primping" himself up before he would go out. There were many times when my stomach was growling, he would still need to spend 1 hour on his hair and I had to spend 50 minutes just sitting around waiting for him.

So no, I wouldn't date a guy like that.

I wouldn't wanna date a guy who spends more time on himself than with me.
That's my impression of metrosexuals, but i'm fine being friends with them. I mean, I have gay and lesbian friends all around me.

hmm dunno how to explain, he will know how to pick the right shirt and pants to wear which looks casual but also fashionable (not apek style)... sometimes if really hungry he also won't shave or put product on his hair, and it's ok cause to me the bf is always leng chai one ma no matter what wub.gif

if I didn't have to wait for him to spend time on himself...and if he was never "fashionably late", then I wouldn't mind dating one.

Well as along as the self procalimed metrosexual , isnt obsessed with his appearance that hinders other things in his life i dont see anything wrong in taking care of yourself , although i know some close friends who take it too far and I am often confused exactly what is it they are trying to exact with their outfits

MY bf is kinda like a metrosexual. Or he would have been if he has more money to spend on better products XD But we shop alot together and do masks. He likes it when I help with his eyebrows ^^ And he's way better at shopping for shoes for me than I am ^^;; He likes to take me to Vincci and pick shoes to match my outfit and then buy them for me *blush* We trade reviews on skin care so it's all good happy.gif
It's kind of funny because whenever something happens to his computer, I'm there to fix it XD
Not that he isn't manly enough. He's very good with cars and loves his car almost as his wife. But tells me that now he has me I'm like the Beloved Mistress and the wife left one side liao *sweat*

Here's more precise definition of "Metrosexual" in the wikipedia.

Metrosexual is a neologism generally applied to heterosexual men with a strong concern for their appearance. For example, they may have eyebrows waxed, fingers manicured, facials etc. procedures which are generally eschewed by the average male. The metro- (mother[1]) prefix indicates this man's purely urban lifestyle, while the -sexual suffix comes from "heterosexual," meaning that this man, although he is usually straight, embodies a heightened aesthetic sense often stereotypically attributed to gay men.

Im sure you gals like to see this kinda guys than those ah bengs.

I think I've turned my ex into a metrosexual man.... well... atleast after I left him, he was interested of his appearance more... maybe because I was super-bashing him on how un-photogenic he is and how he is too unconcerned with his face, poise and ect and ect....

seems to think he will attract more girls this way.. hah... peh...

and now he wanted to be in the running for Malaysia's Next Top Male Model..

i don't mind dating one and i think my boyfriend is partly metrosexual if not a real fulltime metrosexual bcoz he has got his very own hairstylist tht he sees every month and he does ask for advice/recommendation from me for his face. he doesn't carry his very own designer stuff YET. but i plan to get him a thing or two when i go to hk soon just to pamper him alil since he's been doing all the pampering all this while =X

he does borrow stuffs from me(but stopped now since i bought some of it for him already) and he's not ashamed to admit tht to anyone because to the us, taking care of your appearance shouldn't be limited to only females but also to males. but he could get abit lazy to use up everything at times. who wouldn't want a good looking guy? and owh...he's straight from the bottom to the top =D ppl often associate metrosexual with being gay. but tht's not the whole idea of metrosexual. the most famous metrosexual is david beckham and he's certainly NOT a gay.

erm. i think it sucks big time. yes, its nice going out shopping together, but my ex look at himself all the time. it makes me wonder if he is straight sometime. cause he can look at guys and comment bout their clothes and appearance and i dont know why. it takes him ages to get ready. when he can finish it in half an hour or less. he look at himself every single minute, even with me. IMO, i dont like dating a meterosexual guy. =p
