im very new in oc world

ok

i just bought a foxconn mars with e8400

oced to 4ghz on stock cooler

one thing is

my northbridge temp is damn high i keep wondering why izzit so hot

play games also go up to 62

then i try do some test

in the event.. i keep monitoring the NB temp it goes up to 63~~

suddenly it comes to my mind and i try and press the nb heatsink with force

it goes down to 49!!! damn then i let it go it goes back up

the thing is

how the heck do i dismantle the stock heatsink?? i just wanna replace the spring screws with a new one

so that more pressure to the dies

anyone care to help me???

u cant remove using normal screwdriver?or it use '*' screwdriver then hard for u to loose it?

try do it yourself, check with mars owner for better result......

i can use the screwdriver but i cant get the screw out it wont screw out at all

So temp back to normal?

TEMP IS NOT BACK TO NORMAL LA

i need help frm those who already remove their mars NB heatsink step-by-step

i don understand,y is it so hard to remove?
u cant even turn it with screw driver?

its damn damn damn tight

i used a small head plier then only can remove the screws

the temp is now

45-47 on idle @ 4ghz 49-51 on load

So temp back to normal?

yep

indeed mars is good

but that screw cannot tighter then it is

have to replace it with a new one

o_O loose screw that caused the heat problem?..

yeah it can effect if cannot tighten the hsf to the NB very well

When the screw is loose, the contact between the HSF and the core is not good hence contributing to higher temps. The same applies for our CPU HSF.

huh. i got tested to screw out the heatsink. no so difficult ler..
so now the problem solved ?

Some extra history lesson. The '+' head screw is called Phillips or Crosshead head screw and the '-' head screw is normally called slotted head screw. Just some information to add since I remembered the name of the head screw back when learning KH in secondary.

haha if + i know its called philip..but dunno wat "*" type of name of this shape izzit can called star?

Not sure bout '*'. It's either Pozidriv or Torx.

it works fine

then after putting it back into the case

the pc wont turn on

NB dropped -.-" Soldering point messed up.

erm try recheck ur cabling..myb got short cuicuit inside ur case since u said outside it work

try reseting ur bios and replugging ur ram.. Maybe ram contact prob..

done all still wont work

cleaned all the thermal paste and replcae carefully still doesnt work

guess im gonna use the warranty
