Hmm,that's a weird problem that you're facing.Try going to recovery mode->Advanced->Format flash 1

*Recovery mode : Hold the off switch for 3-5 seconds, then HOLD R and boot your psp up*

Hey all sifu, i got one questions here. I was playing GTA: vice city story for psp, but i discovered that there is a lil laggy when i play the game. Izzit someting to do with the firmware? I am currently using 3.90m33-3. Or izzit caused by other issue?
*
Alright,i have a strong feeling that it has something to do with the CPU speed.
Try accessing your VSH menu(Press the select button in your XMB),and the change the CPU speed to the highest one.You can also change it in recovery mode.

TJK911,alright.Try formatting your memory stick ON your PSP first.Make sure you backup all your important files first. If the same error still occurs, inform me and i'll show you how to upgrade to 3.52m33-4 manually. It is equally easy to be honest with you. smile.gif

Ok,here is the guide to upgrade your psp from an older custom firmware to 3.52m33-4.

1)Download this (3.52m33 files)
2)Download this (1.50 eboot)
3)Download this (3.52 eboot)

4)Extract the 3.52m33 files to your PC (Any directories.Desktop would be the best choice)
5)You should see a folder named M33CREATOR.
6)Copy the M33CREATOR folder to your psp ms0:/PSP/GAME150.
7)Now,copy the 150.PBP and the 352.PBP files,and paste it in the M33CREATOR folder. (150.pbp - download 2) (352.pbp - download 3)

8)Now,if done right,it should look like this - ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/eboot.pbp,150.PBP and the 352.PBP file.
9)That's it for the upgrader files.
10)Exit USB mode,go to game and execute the installer.

*Battery needs to be above 75% for the installer to run.NEVER bypass the battery check*

Now,your psp firmware should read as "3.52m33"

Now,time for the easy part,the 3.52m33-4 patch.

1)Download this (3.52m33-4 patch)
2)Extract it to your desktop.
3)Open the PSP/GAME150 directory.
4)You should see the M33Update4 folder.
5)Copy the entire folder, and paste it in your ms0:/PSP/GAME150 directory on your memory stick.
6)Go to game, and execute the installer.
7)This update will take barely a few seconds.

If done right, your psp firmware should display as 3.52m33-4. biggrin.gif Cheers

Now that you've got 3.52m33-4,your psp is ready for the 4.01m33 upgrade.

Follow this guide of mine to help you upgrade your psp from 3.52m33-4 or anything higher to 4.01m33 without encountering any problems.

*This guide was done in a hurry (3.52m33-4 upgrade guide). You might find some 'typos' so just ignore it lah* tongue.gif

Is there anything wrong with the PSP?

No lar,i only post in this thread (Playstation). It is considered as a sub-thread i believe, and due to that reason,it isn't counted as a post. That's why my post count is still struggling at 3 hehe

You can try formatting flash 1 in recovery mode.
Recovery mode = Hold the power switch for 3-5 seconds, then hold R and boot your psp up.Then go to advanced, and hit X at the very last option.

This most probably won't solve the Idstorage problem, but it's always worth a try before cleaning the keys.

Also, you psp most probably is a downgraded one (from either 2.71 or 2.80).The person who downgraded your psp most probably didn't clean the keys before downgrading as it's supposed to be.

Uh oh. PSP blank but has sound.

Edit: Oops. False alarm that got me panicking. The screen blanked but pressing the square icon at the bottom got it lit up again. After that I should try to update again right?

Not working, still the keys incorrect. How do I fix them?
*
Oh bro',sorry for the late reply.
Just press X and allow it to patch the keys.In most cases,it'll work just fine.
Good luck mate biggrin.gif

Damn it man.I'm really sorry but it really isn't my fault.Your psp idstorage keys must have been messed up real bad.I believe it's key 6.Not too sure though.

Now,time to unbrick it.Since you don't have access to a psp which already has custom firmware installed on it,you can only hardmod your battery to create a Pandora's Battery.

Do you want to proceed with the hardmodding process which involves cracking open your battery and cutting off a pin?

Can it be reversed? Is it safe?

Chill man I'm not laying blame at all =)
I'm not the type to lay blame irresponsibly and all so relax lol.
*
Can it be reversed?
You mean the battery or the brick?

If you mean battery :

1)If softmodded,it can be reverted back to the normal battery by either restoring the backed up EEPROM or creating a new generic EEPROM file.
2)If hardmodded, you'll need to connect the pin back again

If you mean the brick :

Yes it can be reversed,of course, using the pandora's battery.Once done, you really should regenerate your Idstorage to replace your messed up one.

It may seem confusing, but it's easy really. We'll guide you through bro'

Anyways,thanks for being cool. smile.gif

Can i ask... if anyone knows the reason as to why a psp would suddenly hang while playing games..??

so geram man... play till so far.. tiba tiba hang... Nooo~~~!!!!
*
Alright.Explain in a little more detail please. When does it hang?
Upon boot or during gameplay itself. If it freezes during gameplay,it could be the game itself (iso/cso etc).

If it freezes upon boot,it could be a problem with the UMD Mode or the CPU speed being too low for the game functions.

Yea,just send it to lowyat. It's better to pay RM40 rather than you wasting a few batteries when trying to get the hardmod method to work.Trust me,RM40 is way cheaper than the price i get charger for unbricking a psp around here.

TJK911,not too sure but you might want to ask allen who owns a store in Lowyat. He might be able to perform the unbricking process for you.You can ask him for DCv7 IDstorage regeneration as well, seeing that your IDstorage is f...ed up.

Err... a question to ask... Is all the psp sold in non official dealer of sony all modded and ready to be used? i think this question got some jack sparrow thingy....

simple example:

psp sold in sungai wang = all modded

Truth or False?
*
Well, most of the psp dealers in shops like "Lowyat" and "Sungei Wang" sell hacked psps and only have a couple of official firmware psps. Why? Because i can bet my life that not a single Malaysian is prepared to buy an official firmware psp,and buy the UMD games instead of getting a pirated copy of it (Including me).It actually is a good thing that the shop dealers hack it before hand.In US and many other European countries, users need to hack their psps themselves because they do not have many "Piracy-Supportive-Shops"(lol) over there.

And yes, just ask the dealer lah tongue.gif

GUYS i have a question, i need an answer ASAP, im currently in USA now and i bout to buy a PSP here, can i use it back home in Malaysia? and if i wana buy games in Malaysia can the games be played on my future american-bought PSP? thank you so much guys
*
Sure you can.Yes,as kaiyi said, you might need a different type of AC adapter thing. There's one problem though. If you buy a psp from US,most probably it'll have official firmware installed on it resulting you being unable to run "Pirated Games".That indirectly means you need to spend around RM130-RM200 per game.If you get one in Malaysia,it most probably will have custom firmware installed on it (Homebrew capable / Hacked psp).If you do have custom firmware on it,you can run the 'cetak rompak' games.

Also,if you decide to purchase the psp over there in US,then you might need to perform a couple of steps in order to hack your unit (If it has official firmware on it).You will need to create a Pandora's Battery in order to install custom firmware on your psp.Once done doing so,you will be able to enjoy your psp like any other forumers in here.

*If you have custom firmware, you won't have any problems running UMD movies as you can easily change your psp's region (fake one)*

By the way,if you get one in US,the chances of you getting conned is way lower. (If you get from approved game stores)

Yo guys a question from a newb to all the pros around here.

Does having a phat PSP with a TA-82 motherboard with a corrupted idstorage keys warning when upgraded mean that the PSP is hard-modded?
*
No man,it most probably means it was downgraded from maybe 2.71/2.80 without running the required IDstorage patch which is a MUST do for TA-082 motherboards. The person who performed the downgrading process on your psp most probably skipped the IDstorage patch thinking that it isn't important. *shrugs*
