i went ther yday oso ma... rm18.90 wor... sumore i said to da staff ther(which is my fren) why so cheap 1, oth place selling 21.90... den he said jz arrived leh, got da smaller packet oso, around rm12.90...
*
the smaller package is for dwarf hamster and the large one is for normal hamster and the large package have larger food and harder. i bought the large one at pet shack before when the first i got my first hamster and they dont really want to eat it, and the next time i bought the small package at the PLC because its more appropriate for dwarf hamster.

Hello everyone smile.gif  I'm interested and planning to get 1 hamster but there are lots of hamsters breed i realizes. I have 0 knowledge about hamsters anyway sweat.gif  Started to learn how to take care of them before I am ready to get one. I heard my friend who used to owned a white hamster said that red eyes's hamsters are aggrasive. Is that true? blink.gif  And which gender of hamsters are better to mingle with? My first impression when I touched hamsters is,they seems to be curios and then will nibble my fingers. Is this the way for them to get used to human's smell? Sorry for so many questions here as I am really curious to know them more blush.gif  tongue.gif  All comments are welcome and I appreciated it. Thanks ya  wink.gif

red eye or black eye is just the same, it depends on how tame they are.
for me i like small but fat size hamster so ill go for winter white or RC.
yes they do nip every thing to taste.

QUOTE(neshie @ Jun 1 2008, 11:03 PM)

*

thx thx~ i wll consider a zoozone1 then... any1 here buy vitamins to put in water for their hammy?? izzit useful??
*
i use the vitamin for drinks, its quite useful u know if u bought a pet from a pet shop since they didn't eat really well. those vitamin help to increase the hammy selara makan. well u know what most pet shop feed the hammy, most of them feed sun flower seeds only am i right. so if u use it they will have the appetite to eat other food bc some that have been trained to eat seeds will continue to pick only seeds to eat. like one of mine, he didn't even touch other.

Liquid Vitamins when mixed with water, lose their beneficial properties very fast. So it is better to feed a variety of veggies and fruits or Nezu's smoothies. Powdered vitamins is much better and have a longer shelf life.

Added on June 2, 2008, 2:36 pmWhat brand is your vitamins? Delikate? Change to a better quality of food lah.

im not quite remember about the brand but i do follow the proper dosage, and im using delicate and prestige for dwarf

Buy minimum is RM1. And it is a lot for 1 hamster. Yes you can keep but you must feed them. Read up on gutloading mealworms and keeping mealworms. Google.
Good. Lucky loh. I saw many expired ones sometimes still on sale for customers.

lol -,-" its a good thing that here in subang got some pet shop that actually care for hamster and customer. i bought it at the pet shop inside the summit subang.

finally i can pickup with this threads... 100++ post since i last view

V | these are some of info for taking care of your hammy if they have this conditions | V

Condition - Symptoms

1. Bite wounds - Sores, lacerations, red or irritated areas, or infection

2. Cheek pouch problems - Pouches are swollen and painful when touched.

3. Diarrhea - Liquid feces, wet around rear end.

4. Ear Problems - Scratching and digging in ears

5. Stomach Problems - Loss of weight, lack of appetite, diarrhea, or sits in a hunched over position.

6. Heatstroke - The hamster appears dead or comatose and is weak and unresponsive.
^(place them in a 60-90 degree temperature to prevent this, i read about it somewhere before)

7. Nails - Nails tear or bleed because of the excessive length.

8. Breathing difficulties - Sneezing, difficulty breathing and wheezing

What To Do

1. If possible, try to cleanse the wounds with a tiny amount of hydrogen peroxide. Keep the wound clean. Otherwise, see a vet.

2. Check inside mouth and try to remove any objects. This is quite difficult so consult a vet.
Be sure the pouches actually have problems before taking the animal to the vet. Lots of hamsters always overstuff their pouches.

3. Try to rehydrate the hamster by offering more water. But, you must contact a vet. This is probably wet tail and you will need medication immediately.

4. Ask a vet. It could be mites or possibly, disease.

5. Isolate and rehydrate. Take away all green foods. If problem persists, take to the vet.

6. Take to a cool room, and while holding in hand, set the hamster into cool water.
Keep the head above water. Carefully and completely dry the hamster. Make sure you keep them out of drafts! As soon as they are conscious, rehydrate.

7. Trim the tips of the nails down to the quick with baby nail clippers or take your hamster to the vet and ask them to do it.

8. First, what kind of bedding are you using? If it is cedar, remove it immediately!! Otherwise, get your hamster to the vet quickly.

Good luck! icon_rolleyes.gif
btw if you have any doubt please refer from your nearest vet.

mine are also scared but not until he squeaking like that. and i manage to get him trust me in just 2 days.
hamster from a bad pet shop often have bad condition and died in a week, so it not that you have something to lose if you go and have a check. but be sure to see the way your hammy react first like the way he walk etc to see any sign of bone that might be break or have any other injuries. or if he really just scared try to just hold em often

btw does he look weak? i meant dont really eat, drink and sleep alot?
