Now wanna train SamSam to be braver, so have to remove the wheel and all the hide outs when I'm around, so that can force him to see me. Hopefully he can be brave soon after the 'training', cos not nice to see him like so restless trying to get out from the tank.

I did get to know some of the members here as we met in Pet Shack. Nothing so great if you know them by face or not right? We just wanna share our pets and their stories here, owner is not the main topic already. If you post your hamster pic with you in, sure your hamster can't be seen already la.

Yes, it is a different brand playpan. We saw it about RM100+ in PLC Sunway which is different from the one selling in Pet Shack.

Yes, Kiko and SamSam did put on lots of weight especially Kiko. I can see her round round now. Her face also look more bear bear look now. I'm only giving smoothies instead of combine with fresh veges, wanna try and see which can make them put on weight faster. Now they eat up to 2 tablespoons a day with different flavor smoothies. I like can see Kiko is putting on weight everyday, dunno is real or I imagine. Wanna get a weighing scale to weight them.

The smell is hardly describe for you. If you smell it, it's stink and different from pee smell, then you'll know it's heat. And the female genital part also will have some white color sticky discharge, if you try to touch and smell it, you'll never forget that smell.


We call it 'heat', not period. What your friend saw? What is she or he meant by 'looks like period'? FYI, its different from what human is having, if your friend saw something like what human is having, then definitely your friend is wrong.

You can always check out Nezu's Nutri smoothie thread to find out for another options to get the smoothies. This is the best time for you to pump your syrian as he is only 3 weeks old. He is small and thin cos the previous owner might not have give him the proper food and try to pump the hamster before selling. Since you already got him, start ASAP so that he got more time to grow. When she grows bigger then need to change to bigger tank. Can see that you're using HabitTrail Space Station. Scared she develops a habit of biting the bars.

Remember to change the wheel to an 8" or bigger wheel when she gets big or else the wheel that came with the Space Station might cause her to have back problem with long term use.

Taken some of the pics of SamSam under sunlight cos I have doubts maybe he is a satin but I'm really not sure as he is a bit more shinny than others but not too shinny, hope can get the pro to clarify for me cos I never seen satin before, thanks!

That's why I try to take pic under sunlight so that no flash and less reflection. Mink? Hmm.... If it's a mink also nevermind, cos his color already very unique. Don't look like cream at all, a bit like sable but too light to be sable. So, we also Hope to have pros to give clarification to clear our doubts.

Hmm... could be also, but if there's any statement says mink have eye ring and dove don't have, then my doubts can be clear already, but the only different is brown coat to the roots, I can't hold him yet as he is still exploring and get used to the new home, so can't check for that.

Because of his super long hair I gotta change his bedding from Aspen wood shaving to corncobs mixed with BC and hay. Or else, I gotta clean his fur whenever I wanna take him out.

I also hope I can take a closer pic of him, but he is exploring the whole tank and keep running on the wheel, not even 1 second he is still and not move.

SamSam will be quiet whenever I hold him and groom his fur, he won't run away but move a bit here and there la.

Maybe after all the mink and dove thingy, he is a light sable banded.....hahahaha....

Thanks! But we still doubt about his color. Try to google and research about it but end up more confusing. Anyway, we'll still love him as he is. He is a bear look boy, active and alert. Love the wheel and food so much. He choose to eat the smoothie first.

Hahaha..... It's already here from my previous hammies la. Thought wanna get ready for Nezu's hamsters but now occupied already, gotta get new sets for the new comers of Nezu. Why so jealous? You don't need to run on wheel right? We gave him Sanko wheel because we scared he will hide, sleep, pee and poo in the wheel if we give him Wodent wheel, so better Sanko wheel lor. Wodent keep for Nezu's hammies.

Sanko wheel is good wheel as it is big enough for Syrian so that their back and spine will not hurt while running in the wheel in their adulthood cos syrian can grow until 6-7 inches in length. The price is around RM55-RM60 depends on where you get it. You can get it from Pet Shack, Pet Lover Center Sunway Pyramid and Pet Safari Ikano. For PLC and PS, I don't know whether they still have their stock or not, but Pet Shack still have a few of it and Pet Shack is slightly cheaper also

The other option is Wodent wheel which is very good wheel also. This only can get from Pet Shack as it's fully imported from USA.

Yes, that's the Sanko wheel. It's actually a silent wheel, brand Sanko cos it's a Japanese company. Wodent wheel is the one Wodent Wheel Junior RM68.80. Both are good. If your Syrian is big and your tank is a 2ft tank, then must be careful as they are very smart and can find their way to escape from the tank using the wheel stand cos Sanko wheel stand got a place for them to stand.

My JackJack can climb up and stand on top of the wheel then bite the lid as the cover is closed. Just so amaze when I saw that with my own eyes. Once they can bite a hole and get a grip, they can get out already.

You only need to pay about RM10 extra for Wodent wheel, if you prefer a Wodent wheel then no need to get one first then get another one after that, unless you are like us, get more than one, then no problem lor.

I agreed with your point for the smoothie as I can see Kiko is growing bigger in a sudden (3 weeks).

Not as cool as you think it is. When cleaning time... Bedding also need to put more than double. And also need a big space to put it. We purposely bought a coffee table from Ikea for him and his ZooZone2 as the usual TV table need to put my TV on. So he gotta move. Now my living room have 4 2ft tanks and 1 ZooZone2. Almost occupied half of the living room. This not included the 2 Syrians which we going to get from Foo. Need another 2 2ft tanks and 1 coffee table. Can't imagine how's Hun's mini zoo look like...
