Hi guys, you can say I'm fairly new to photography and I seek to improve my photos by posting some shots I've taken here - so I really do appreciate any C&C. Especially composition, in which I think I'm a little un-creative at. Also recently acquired a Canon EOS 450D. So in no particular order of the shots I've snapped in the past:

user posted image
#1 - When I was in Laos last December at a quiet, quaint village. Snapped with a PnS, post-processed with HDR.

#2 - At Ulu Yam 2 weeks back. Post-processed with HDR & Orton.

#3 - Splashing water with friends.

#4 - Sungai Sendat.

#5 - An attempt at portrait photography.

#6 - For some reason the bokeh is covers too large an area even though it's shot at f/2.8. I was using my 50mm f/1.8 lens.. trying to improve my shots on food as well, can anyone specifically C&C this?

the first picture is a lil bit noisy, cant check your EXIF.
the water splashing maybe you could try including to person on the right and not leave so much empty space on the the top left smile.gif
last pic DOF too shallow.
other than that i think the rest are very nice smile.gif

IMO, the bokeh might be too strong in this pic. How about shooting at f/3.2 or f/3.5? If you have the luxury of time, you can always take a few shots and sample. That's what I do. Unless you are super hungry lah tongue.gif

Hehe thanks! That was accidentally captured really as I was playing around with settings on the go while they were fooling about.

1) That first shot was snapped on my IXUS 850 IS, settings was on Auto IIRC. >_> EXIF from the original file was f/2.8, 15sec - but I was mostly aiming to hold the shutter open as long as my camera could handle.

2) Ah ya I should have. Will keep that in mind next time!

3) Thanks! =)

Yeah the bokeh is indeed too strong.. I've deleted the pics shot at f/3.2 and above 'cause they were blurry like hell (no tripod was around).

Haha yala my friends will always always take the opportunity to curi my food while I was shooting, so terpaksa end it quickly before the whole plate's gone. :P

whats the ISO for #1 ?
Abit noisy... this type of shots use iso 200/400 then use slower shutter speed enough ... will get great effect biggrin.gif

Other than that , I like all.

tips: if you wanna take a shot with a big aperture and YET wanna increase the DOF, take it from top view, then the bokeh wont be that strong. smile.gif

Hmm yeah it does look a bit underexposed - guess I'll try brighten it up a bit some more in RAW.
