Is it alright to drink Milo before sleep? I would drink it around 1-2am and sleep around 3-4am. I plan to lose weight, will this habit make me fat?

Is it alright to do cardio exercise like cycling at night (12-1am)??...indoors on the machine of course!

How long should I jog a day if I really wanna burn fat? Same with cycling, how long should I cycle a day? How intense should it be? Is it ok to jog first then do extra cardio by cycling?

If I have all the time in the world, how long would you recommend me to workout in the gym?

If your main purpose of drinking milo is to combat hunger at night, then it is good, but bear in mind that you should only drink a light milo, which consist of nothing except milo powder as they are already pack with sugars and milk. And ya, you can cycle at 12am if you want, but can u sleep after that? and it is better that you have a normal lifestyle than a nocturnal lifestyle.. i.e. waking up at 8-9am rather than 2-3pm... sounds good? smile.gif good luck to ur journey

about the milo & about exercising during at night, i'm not 2 sure myself it will have any effect on your weight

IMHO how long you should jog a day it depends on how fit r u?? how long do you take in an 2.4km run/jog...
for people age 20-29; scale 1-5, 1 for bad, 5 is for good
guys 5 marks is below 10 minutes, 4 is 10.01- 11.30, 3 11.31-13.15, 2 13.16-15.00, 1 above 15.01 minutes
ladies 5 marks is below 12 minutes, 4 is 12.01-13.30, 3 13.31-15.15, 2 15.16-17.00, 1 above 17.01 minutes
source: taken from the fitness rubric used in my college
do you exercise regularly??? if you don't, you need to condition your body 1st in order not to over stress your body

i suggest that you start by jogging/cycling or any form of exercise that gives you a workout at least 30 minutes a day (minimum), 3 times a week (minimum) with proper warming up & cooling down..in the attachment r some of the suggested form of exercise from the Youth & Sports Ministry...remember to do not over stress your body & gradually increase the intensity of your workout, this goes the same for your workout in the gym

also practice eating a balance diet is also important

I'd rather drink a hot chocolate drink, Milo is so fake..

I used six big tablespoons and still can't get the 'full' taste of a real chocolate drink.

One sugar drink a day is acceptable, any more and you're in red territory

14. Does MILO contain caffeine?
MILO contains a small amount of caffeine, as caffeine is a natural component of cocoa bean. One serve of MILO ( 25g MILO with 250ml of milk) contains approximately 15mg caffeine. A cup of instant coffee ( a rounded teaspoon ) contains approximately 60-70mg of caffeine.

FROM NESTLE WEBSITE

and to answer your question, no hun, one cup of milo at night (or day) won't make you fatter

choc is good, don't restrict yourself so much.

actually i was quite shocked that pedro was quite rude in his reply. Must be having a bad day.. cheer up dude, pump some iron.

My post workout meal is a cup of milo + banana. Should be fine. The milk in the milo contains serotonin which is a kind of sedative to help you sleep.

I don't think it's a good ideal to have any food or drink before sleep.

I always drink milo before sleep, and I sleep really well. The caffeine in milo is just too mild, even a can of coke has more caffeine than milo.

why the hostility in this thread?

btw i usually drink a warm glass of Milo on the occassional insomniatic (i dont think theres such a word) nights to help me sleep, and sometimes it does work. not all the time though. my lecturer said its bad to drink it before sleep because of the high sugar content. not sure if this is an accurate info or not, but bare in mind that my lecturer is an accountant, not a nutritionist blush.gif

IMO,
Drinking milo before sleep doesn't effect much for any individuals.
But every time, you drank some 'sweet' stuffs before you sleep
the next day, you will tired, but as for me.
I donno whether it's real deal, but this happens to me.

Are you joking? 2 litre of Milo may probably give you over 1200 calories.
That's like eating 4 pieces of chicken meat.

maybe because the body was working in the night to process or digest the milo, so the brain rested but not the body?

sometime ppl sleep better at night after milo cause
they ate at 7pm,

but sleep at 12pm.

therefore all the food digest,
And the stomoch is hungry,

so milo fills the spot!

I agreed on the heaty portion.

Drinking milo before sleep is not good for my personal opinion since milo is considered as mild energy drink.

Why not try to drink a glass of milo? I believe it'll have a better effect.

its already a routine for your body, maybe you cant sleep well without your milo.

wah vkeong i know this guy i always like to see his blog haha,

I personally think drinking milo is will have high chance to get more calories and calories turn into fat if not used and straight away go to sleep, that's all....

But milo always is my saviour when so hungry in the office.

I personally don't drink Milo before sleeping because it is simple carbs which can turn to fat very easily if you sleep straight away after that. But a glass won't hurt anyone. Just keep the scoops to a minimum without any sweeteners if you intend to drink it before sleep. I prefer to take mine in the morning and afternoon instead.

It's the nice warm feeling in your stomach that makes it nice to sleep on.

I wouldn't drink Milo just before sleeping, too little protein, too much sugar. Milk, yogurt or some protein shake might be better. I sometimes take a half-boiled egg before sleeping... nice! Yum!

errr

i recommend chocolate protein shake before sleep since you like milo so much

almost the same taste,,if not better. mix protein shake (good tasting ones are e-excel, ISO and ON) the ones i tried so far-and order chocolate flavour.

i love milo too,but trust me,,after mixing either one of those brands with 150-250 ml of milk -you'll quit milo.

p.s: milk lowers absorption..so interchange between milk and water

i had dinner at 7, after that i never eat anything but drink a cup of milo before sleep. seriously the milo makes my face go rounder and rounder like kaya bun, after 1 month i noticed the difference myself too, and my friends who long time never met.

i dont know. maybe i put too much susu pekat. or the milo too thick, just my 2 cents though. now i completely stop only take it once in a while.

shouldn't it be the other way around?

Milo is supposedly high in energy, because the drink has 1,760 kJ in every 100 g of the drink. It is also for this reason that it is also marketed as the "Energy Food Drink".

I've been drinking a lot of Milo lately. My face has been getting a bit rounder, but I'm not sure if it's due to the Milo consumption. The rest of my body doesn't seem to be affected though.

Maybe I'm putting too much Milo powder. How many teaspoons of Milo powder do you guys usually put?

Oh, and I drink my Milo with a bit of HL milk.

When I was young and Milo, Horlick still affordable.., before sleep I drink
2 table spoon milo + 1 table spoon Horlick + 2 table spoon milk powder (I think is nespray or fernleaf).

Am I fat? No
Am I tall? No
Do I "appear" healthy? Yes

i wonder what is its secret recipe?
milo gives us energy.
but we do eat something for breakfast. some ppl take nasik lemak, roti canai + milo, kudapan for some of us..then lunch..petang2 minum milo..then dinner..
possible lar to gain weight..coz what we eat or drink, differ in energy / calories. .

Milo can cause brain damage.

Blood will be concentrated to the intestines so that it can improve the absorption of the sugar and micronutrients in Milo. During sleep, blood is supposed to flow to the brain to replenish it's ATP level. It is especially important during the first hour of sleep.

It's effect is cumulative. The blood-brain barrier will become thinner so that ATP transport from blood to the brain can be improved. At one stage, this this membrane will be so thin that it's basically gone. Then sugar (mostly sucrose and oligosaccharides) and ATP will diffuse freely between the brain and blood. It's a time bomb. Nothing much will happen if you eat & live normally.

But, if you continue to take Milo before sleeping, the sugar and ATP spike in blood will be fed into the brain (no blood-brain barrier to control this transport), driving the brain to be hyper-active and having multiple micro seizures. Chronic levels of micro-seizures will slowly damage the brain, especially in the frontal lobe of cerebrum, which controls the logic centre. It's symptomes are only be detectable after years damage.

There is only one medical procedure that can reverse this condition:
Neural-cerebral rewiring.

I'd rather drink a hot chocolate drink, Milo is so fake..

I used six big tablespoons and still can't get the 'full' taste of a real chocolate drink.

One sugar drink a day is acceptable, any more and you're in red territory
