A big NO-NO.. coz east coast penisular malaysia (KELANTAN, TERENGGANU & PAHANG) is having monsoon season now..
Sg Lembing is flood-prone area. Please choose another dates.. I think you need to wait year 2009 then only have the chance to visit Sg Lembing

im from kuantan and had climb sg lembing hill (not mountain) lol.. many times. and been to raindow waterfall 2 times.

advice is dun go during monsoon season. the sg lembing hill can be scaled daily.... no need 100% fit also nvm coz middle got place to rest.
btw, the shop in front of the alley (staircase) to start the climb is actually... a morgue. lol... not to scared u guys. the view on top will make up for it.

for rainbow waterfalls, there is a shop in town that can rent 4wd to go in with 1 guide. 4wd will go until the river and then u guys have to cross the river to start your 45 mins trek to the waterfalls. if it rains in the morning.. u guys gonna get "camel adventure " i.e. muddy road and 1 thing to beware... leeches. bring some salt water just in case.

food to look for: ketchup mee and the yong tau hu.

u guys can stay in kuantan and drive to sg lembing around 3.30am or 4am as the drive in will take like 45mins - 1 hour. becareful during the drive as there will be cows / goats in the middle of the rad and its foggy at some stretch. safety first! start early and go slow. careful of 2 deadly corner (look more like a U-turn) before reaching the town. go slow!

u guys can scale the sg lembing hill 1st then come down for breakfast then continute to rainbow waterfalls. tips - if u stand below the waterfalls u can see rainbow around u~... becoz of the splashing water. safety note - if u guys see dark cloud... better get moving coz it indicate rainfall at other places which will possibly coz sudden rise in the water flow from the waterfall above u.

hope u guys enjoy sg lembing... back to nature yeah~~

Thanks.

just came back from sg. lembing. below are some of the accommodation details we found

If you come by bus (no private transportation), it is best if you stay in Sg. Lembing town. We found only one guesthouse right in the middle of the town. We saw many young ppl near the lobby, and it gives us the feel of a backpacker lodge.
Sg. Lembing Rest House
019-9082193
019-9040389
019-9161492
012-9009622

If you come by bus but wish for a quieter accommodation more suitable for family, you can try this but it's about a km (i think less than a km) from the town.
Hotel Sungei Lembing & Cafe
019-9981126
09-5411924
We stayed here during our trip. Nice, clean and budget. We stayed in a double bed room with a/c and bathroom for RM50 per night, and a 4-person room (one double bed and two single beds) with a/c but shared bathroom for RM60. This hotel is actually more like homestay with regfrigerator, television, clean drinking water, bathrooms (three shared bathrooms downstair and one upstair), shower cream in each bathroom (but we couldn't find shampoo) and towel. It is located less than a km from the town market, near the police station. Its location is at the crossroad to Rainbow Waterfall, Gunung Tapis, Hot Spring, Deer Farm, Orang Asli Settlement. The owner operated a restaurant called Yong Seong Restaurant 永顺茶室 that serves vegetarian dishes. Its 'wat tan hor' and ketchup noodle are featured in chinese magazine called Travelmate 旅游玩家 2007 Oct/Nov edition (i bought this magazine from the restaurant itself).

The two accommodation above are located on Jln. Sg. Lembing, which means you don't have to cross the river. The other accommodations we found are located on the other side of the river, which i think you will need a private vehicle to travel to (the bus only stops along Jln. Sg. Lembing) unless you are a serious walker/trekker. smile.gif

Lembing Village Resort
09-5411831
019-9070854.

Sg. Lembing Homestay
09-5412395
Operated by the manufacturer of Sg. Lembing noodle (I dunno if there's more than one manufacturer, but this one is across the jambatan gantung). We got to know this when we bought some noodles from them. Its a small double storey brick house with three rooms, costing RM200 per night for the whole house).

ACF Retreat Centre
019-9551405

There's also a nice bungalow with garden called Lembing Resort, but its signboard does not list any phone no. We saw a few singaporean car parked at the front. If anyone has stayed here before, please provide its contact details here.

Hi all,

I just came back from the Rainbow Waterfall. Had a great time and had a great tour guide. Can't remember the number. Need to get it from my friend as he booked it. We went in a group of 20. Some pictures as attached. My guide was great cause he actually made us enjoy the trip and he was helpful too. My friend had no proper shoes/slippers and my guide did his best to get it for us. We took the option to all fit into the back of a lorry as we want all 20 people to be together.

We did not stay in Sg Lembing but had a great meal there. Cheap and nice food.

Let me get the contact and i will provide it here.

For now, enjoy the pictures below:-
