heya guys/girls i hope you guys/girls can help a console newbie..this will be my first console ill be purchasing hence the dilemma

im torn between getting a ps3 or an xbox

Im a shoot-em-up type of gamer so the titles im looking forward to play are mainly shooting games..gears of war, call of duty, rainbow six and less on the rpgs, grand theft autos and metal gear solid so my mates tell me to get the xbox as itll be more to my liking games wise but some of them say i should get the ps3 as these titles (besides gears of war) will soon be available on the ps3

and with the ps3, theres the blu ray player as well which since the blu ray has won the HD war i can start buying blu ray movies..so thats the enticing part bout the ps3 and plus i can play online without paying extra.

and then with the xbox 360 i know ill be facing that red ring problem which im not looking forward to..sigh choices

so knowing that..do you think im better off getting an xbox?

compare both games for both systems.. multiplatforms and exclusives.. and see which one rocks your boat most.. and ask your wallet how will it feel about the purchases.. and make your decision.

cause the trade off of cannot watch blu ray movie is getting gears of war (2) on xbox360 .

what else ? hmm if u get xbox360 make sure get the falcon thingy i donno what is it but it suppose to minimize the rod problem la .

in reference of my reply in console war.. here goes..

3rd party controller is controller that s made by other manufacturer not the company who made the console... orite... this controller is such as arcade controller, guitar controller, light gun, steering wheel and many many more....

another point that is worth thinking is what you can do to the console and not what the console can do for you since that is clear enuf what it can do.... are you willing to take extreme care for your console, since if u are not that u should know what to choose..... console also need some love babeh.... let say u are taking xb360 and u dont give much love to it... you gonna get a nice homemade red ring.... dont know much bout the ps3 lens problem so i cant touch more on that.... so u choose the ring or the lens... hehe

are yo willing to go trough the process of claiming the warranty of the unit? since both also got problem so if u take one of them u will go trough the same thing and for warranty the unit will be send to sg..... unless u put wii in it... (as a reminder for u, there is moded xb360 out there so if u value ur 3 years warranty from ms dont buy moded)

for game since u like shooter, fo general shooting game such as cod series, rainbow 6 seres etc can safely saywill come out on both console but for exclusive, both have their own nice line up aswell...

i just bought xbox 360..main reason I bought iy is choice of ******* games that is available..I'm going to buay a ps3 next month cosole exclusives like metal gear and god of war..hahahaha

It bores down to the games you wanna play and the exclusive titles that are one the console itself. Some games are multi platform so no worries there. All is down to the games you wanna play.

As far as I know, there is a large community on Xbox but no idea about PS3.

I myself is saving to get an xbox 360 and I look into the games itself, not the console or the problems (Ok la, I bit scare 3ROD also, but take care properly sure no problem one).

PS:Just provide sufficient love to your plastic box and it will be fine la, or else wait for new Xbox unit this coming August, if you want an Xbox. PS3, I cannot say. I'm not much of a fanboy anyway. Just wanna play games.

ko tengok game ape ko suke r......macam MGS, god of war ngan Final Fantasy exclusive 4 ps3(main series, klu spin off mungkin kuar kat wii, xbox) if u buy xbox u get halo n gears of war,...tp make sure u can connect ur concole to the internet.....go to wikipedia....pas 2 ko tengok list of games untuk kedue2 konsol.....look for the games u like....make sure u check out both consoles...personally I choose PS3...but buy both or all 3 ler if u got money

hmmm i was kinda leaning towards ps3 now since the only game i think ill be missing out on the xbox greatly would be gears of war...and most of the other games that im looking forward to playing such as rainbow six/call of duty are on both platforms...plus ps3 gives me the added blu ray playing capabilities as well

but xbox games are cheaper. if you frequently play online, then ps3 for you. cause xbox live is not free. but is better a lot

It all depends on what exclusive games u want to play?? do u want MGS4, Final fantasy 13, God of war 3, Killzone 2?

On x360, u will get Gears of war 2, Fable 2, Halo 3, ....

So it all depends on what games u want.

for me, long term and reliability. That's why i've gone for the PS3

Xbox is cool now with their games but the idea of paying subscriptions every yr is just not so fun It's like being tied on the nose and if next yr they increase the price, you can't say no right?

Although PS3 now seems not to be so attractive like XBOX but sooner or later they will catch up and if they don't, heyoh... treat your PS3 like a blu ray player lorr.. it wont harm anyway

ive been budgeting and if i get an xbox elite which makes full use of my hdmi monitor, plus 1 extra controller, a wifi adapter, hdmi cable and a game woahhhhhhh it comes up to rm2500....

Skip wifi la. Direct use LAN connect better. Just my opinion.

woah, after days and days of thinking it boils down to this..pros cons list of sorts

xbox - more games/exclusive games of my liking i.e gears, xbox live (read up on other threads and most say xbox has the better online gameplay system ) -oooh gears of war pro evo live oooh..and it seems that theres a strong msian xbox 360 community here

ps3 - minus the gears of war exclusive title, theres the blu ray ability and most other games i.e cod4 are available on it plus wifi's built in already and sooner or later it has to catch up on the xbox 360 in terms of games right..yeesh

would loveeee to buy them both but damn gotta choose 1. Haha i think at this stage ill just make up my mind when i head over to gamers solution this weekend...cheers guys

no la xbox360 is not that weak compare to ps3 , it will stay and give a good fight to ps3 dont worry about that . this is coming from a ps3 owner.

if ur going for xbox 360, just don't forget that u have a fee to pay for online multiplayer for xbox LIVE. Modded Xbox console can't play online from what I know. Support original!

Xbox 360 or PS3? What are u looking for the most? Purely offline games or online? Online PS3 is free! Call of Duty 4 FTW! Of course 360 has large library of games. Nothing can take that away...but because of hardware, thats what made me chose PS3 over 360. Adding to that, this year all the AAA titles is starting to be released. Having said that, still cant get enough of COD4. MGS 4 also... . And yeah, as i have my own income now, i support original games and hardwares... many good things could come out of it, and also although that one is 'outcome' lah, not income.

If you get the PS3, you can be sure that it wont get totally obsolete for at least another 5 years or so (if it doesnt die of hardware failure), like the PS2, even after 8 years its still selling strong and they actually still make games for it. Sony did say they are planning for a 10 year life cycle or something for the PS3.

For the Xbox360, it might get phased out entirely like the previous Xbox once the next generation xbox gets released. you need to remember that the xbox is on its 3rd year now and there are rumors saying that the next xbox will come out in 2010 or something, So if its like the old xbox, the 360 will be dead in 2 years. This is not impossible since the old xbox had a lifespan of only 4 years.

About the life cycle of console, i dun think i can stay with a same console more than 5 years. Even 4 years is kinda too long for me too, anything will change faster, mostly ppl now will looking for better graphic than game play.

A SAME PS3 games available to xb360 cost as much as RM100 extra bucks. with no extra goodies. even graphics are identical for both.

A full year of gold subscription only cost around RM160 if you know where to look at....

So...I doubt the fact on your post, dude.

However, PS3 do have other goodies, just not the price....

Xbox 360 - Cheap pirated games (for modded one), great FPS FPS FPS.

PS3 - Free online play, wider range of games, "brighter future".

if you like FPS...better buy x360 rather than ps3...cause in my opinion, FPS is easily controlled with xbox controller (coz it bigger and user friendly).....

I just said that there was a fee to pay, nothing more than that. ppl would still be disappointed if they found that out only after buying the console. Only RM 160, yeah. Still RM 0 for PSN is cheaper than RM 160.

PS3 games are a little more expensive, it can be upwards of RM 100, but if u compare with normal edition with special la But from what I see between same edition will cost around RM 40 or so more only, not until RM 100. If you know where to look, you can get an even better deal.

ok ps3 playa faridz7 already decided to buy a Xbox360....welcome to 360 family....

The 360 will probably be much longer lived than its predecessor, simply because it's doing way better than the original xbox. The PS2 survived this long because it dominated the previous console war.

ive heard new ps3 will be the slim edition,some rumors said xbox360 will getting smaller when valhalla chip out later on

Ppl would be more disapointed, when they found that the PS3 package comes only with a unit of non-vibrating Six-axis controller and a finely finished console.

ppl would be disappointed, when games like GTA4 suffers from performance issue when playing online and patch required after all the hassle to install while XB360 suffers only minor loading glitches & not performance issue.
