i have iphone and i'm using maxis prepaid . lately i've noticed my balance gets decreasing sometimes after hearing some sound or vibe from iphone. i guess it's gprs thingy that cause this. bcuz the G sign is always on top left of the screen.i disable email updating but still.... what should i do to prevent from this happening ?

I presume that you have Installer on your iPhone. Search for BossPrefs and install it. Then use it to disable the EDGE function. After you have done so, the G/E icon will still be there but at least you won't get charged unnecessarily.

Write an complaint email to Maxis/call Maxis, tell them that you are not statisfied with the sms mailing (must stated the number that send you voice mail/sms/ringing tone/etc) that caused you lost aitime from auto deduct (maybe you have accidentally subcribed to one of the SMS mailing list - third party/maxis)

- You have the right to stop them from being charge you further if you are not using they service.... (remember nothing is free from telcos, and this is how they make profit mill of profit)

Since i don't use EDGE very often, i only apply the correct settings when i need it.

Eg: for Maxis, the APN is unet. I usually set it to 'une' when i don't use it. When it need it, i just set it back to 'unet'.

Probably it is a bit troublesome, but i don't use it often so it's fine with me. Plus, i would rather spend 30 seconds applying the settings than wasting 30 ringgits.
