Nope. I wish I could afford the G lens. This was taken using the Cosina 100mm.

Natural or diffused flash?

Natural. I'm too poor to own a flash

Ahh very nice already Can imagine how good you can be if you had flash.

I have no experience in flash macro. I wonder how I can be benefited with flash.
Personally I do not favor those macro with dark/black BG. I prefer the BG having natural color.

You can move closer, therefore capturing more details. The fact that you move closer means you will be blocking most natural light from your subject.

Not to mention, you can take shots of insects hiding somewhere where natural light is hard to come by. Using flash doesn't mean its all black BG because it still depends on the aperture you are using.

I use flash in mine and it still retains the colour. For example, the tiger moth shot I have:



Without flash, this probably wouldn't have been possible because this fella was hiding underneath some big leave.

Some macro photographers push it to f22 which naturally leads to darkened background. That is up to you when you get to use flash

Beautiful colour! How did you position your flash?

Heh that wan is aided by equipment. Used the Nikon R1 Wireless Close-up Speedlite System.

So it looks something like this:



Except its diffused Of course, such lighting is achievable using normal flash setup with diffuser. I know Shutter Asia photogs have their own DIY diffuser which is called Milk Bottle.

Flash? No flash in these shots.
These were shot last Saturday in Kek Lok Tong, Ipoh.

This is nothing compares to Juza's. He just posted up a series of macro that made my jaw dropped.

ok well yes his colors are nicer but then again..he is a professional bah...cannot compare with him i like your composition coz its a lil diff from how people usually shoot
