i'm a newb here...and i'm just wondering if there's anyone who's experienced in conversion.
my gundam modelling is current what ppl describe as noob, mostly snap fit and sanding and compounding down the nib marks. color wise i just use gundam markers.
i've been collecting HG1/144 for 3 years and the as of now have like 30+ HG1/144s.
But for the past year i've been interested with HG1/144 conversions like Raider Full Spec, Buster Dagger, Sword Calamity, Forbidden Blue/Deep forbidden and Impulse Destiny which you cant get in normal kits.
Anyone knows what materials i should get to start? anyone has any experience in conversion building? Thanks

i found this site where this guy did some conversion which i'm drooling for. esp 1/144 buster dagger and 1/144 raider full spec.
not sure what he use to build those extra parts. putty? plastic?

here's the link:

well..maybe not airbrush. but canned spray will work too right?

so anyone here with experience with scratch building? i just got some HG1/144s Calamity, Raider, Forbidden, Buster and 105 Dagger for like RM30 each.

Since its holiday time i plan to at least get a HG 1/144 Buster Dagger done at least. Biggest regret is that i didn't stock up on the 1/144 Sword Calamity conversion kit two years ago (back then still blur bout gunpla).

Any tips from any sifu will do smile.gif thanks in advance

Well it may be true to get driving license first before driving...i've been driving two years before my license.

well...how to make HG look nice is not a question i shall ask, because by browsing the forum i can get what i want. those questions have been asked over and over again, even tutorials have been published. but i notice not many topic here is about modding, so is it wrong that i ask?

i respect a lot of sifus here because their gunplas are really top notch. but i find my interest more towards quantity rather than quality. and its a pity that there's tons of nice MSVs out there that was never released as regular gunpla kit. so conversion/mod is the only way to go. maybe one day when my drooling for variations has gone then i'll take out all my gunplas and repaint for quality.

wah i tot its myth when my friends told me there's some gunota gathering in KL.

gunpla for me has no meaning unless i do it myself. that's why i nearly killed my bro for 'helping' me to finish one tongue.gif

trust me, i've been knocking my head on the wall for missing out on the 1/144 sword calamity conversion kit in 2006. or the astraea one. luckily astraea came out as a kit.

but thanks for the site edan! one more resource site for me smile.gif

rayloke, i'll stick with starting can sprays and hand paint for now ><
AB is awesome but i heard maintainance is a b****. but thanks for the pointers.

did someone somewhere in this site just talked about mere sanding and topcoat?

@PakFoo:
WAH! where you get UC gatling gun? I tot habis stok adi whole malaysia??

Just a question to all. Anyone knows how to do panel lining on a black gundam...eg: HG 1/144 Blitz gundam? I tried with the usual GM001(200) pen and it looks....no difference.

And has anyone experimented with Real Touch Markers? I accident bought one (the orange color one) thinking that it is normal Gundam Marker and the colour macam normal highlight pen.
And how

got a MG Strike Freedom extra finish for my bday...

and hmm...anyone here has experience building extra finish/metallic coating gundams? especially the horrendous nub marks. don't think i can use the conventional way of cutting from tree using cutter then slice remaining nub off with craft knife before doing slight sanding.

from what i can see the connectors to the tree is not 'hidden' like HG1/144 Akatsuki

any advice will be appreciated

happened to me too. pisses me off everytime my nice panel lines get smudged when i topcoat.

i usually dab my cleaning cloth with some tamiya thinner and rub to get rid of the topcoat on the smudged part. after repanel-line then respray.

on a different note i believe tamiya thinner works on topcoat frosting too.
