new owner of a miniature schnauzer =)

only 3 months and 2 weeks+ old..
came to my house at 3 months..
super regret from buying from pet shop..
but she attracted me xP
she is a black schnauzer and her name is Onyx =D

haha..i sure treat her nice nice..
i regreted coz she came home got canal cough...sneezing...and her tail there got skin prob..
i see oso heart pain..><

so have to wait later oni can upload the pics.. =)


hmm..i wanna go to the Dog ownership thing tomolo lah..

She's finally House trained!! weee!!!

Just today we let her meet up with my senior Golden Retriever...
I Expected that they would fight or something..
but they both were so cute lah..haha..

but she still cough really mildly like once a day...
tat's why her vaccination delayed...
until now she oni got her 1st vaccination..
am still waiting until she fully recovered before bringing her for her nxt one..

To teach to eat after you say ok not very hard, but need patience.
For me, i teach sit and stay first. then before i pour food into her bowl i'll get her to sit and stay. =) i'll say ok when i'm done and she can eat..
if havent teach sit and stay, can just put her in sit position and use the stay command (even if she dun und the command..liddat you can get 2 in 1 =P coz she'll slowly get the meaning of the word stay oso.. =))
then if she moves as you place the food inside the bowl, stop her and make her sit stay again. if repeat many times, she'll get it by the time she eats her third to fourth meal =) hee..

actually dun really have to teach by hitting derr..
you can try this way if you want =) my pup learnt it quite fast..
when your ms bite you that time, say "no", then straight away stuff the thing that she is suppose to bite into her mouth..
repeat until she stop simply biting..
even if she bite things that she is not suppose to bite like curtains, carpets etc do the same thing. then she'll know that she is not suppose to bite anything else other than the things that you allow.. =)
be consistent =) dun suddenly let her bite that thing..then suddenly dun let her bite..she will be confuse =)

she wun simply bite other things..
at first i also thought that that method will make her think like wat you hav said..but i read a book...that book say this method is useful..=)

but my parents and brothers dun allow =(
they say no future..*sobs*-nyerr..

maybe you can try to put newspaper in the cage and not the tray underneath the cage..liddat you ms will know that he needs to pee and poo on the newspaper..
then when she get use to pee and poo on the newspaper.you make the area smaller and smaller (until the suitable area)..
then maybe you can place the cage in the toilet area (the place where you wan her to pee and poo) then slowly try take away the cage from her sight, and leave the newspaper where you usually leave the cage..

umm...no dogs will purposely step on it de..
but there's alwayz chance that ter-kena...but..
newspaper train..this will frequently happen if your puppy pee a lot..
and not little by litte..
this is because the folded area of the news paper cause it to be uneven, causing the pee to slide...
umm..
maybe, but this will be rather 'ma fan'..
you can cut the newspaper in half..so it's flat..
then wun kena dee..

during the first week when my puppy come, also same thing happen...
she die oso wun pee and poo on the newspaper..==
one mistake i did was to let her run about in my room when i'm away to college coz i thought locking her in my toilet while i was away was kinda torturing..
but no, if she makes a lot of mistakes when i'm away..she'll never learn..
so, locking her in is just temporary..at least the toilet is better than the cage..
anyways, what i did was..since i had a week holiday..i had the chance to monitor her very closely..
and ask her to follow me to the toilet whenever she shows signs of wanting to go to the toilet.. (best to ask her to follow you and not carry her there, coz it'll be a habit..and she'll be training you to carry her to the toilet nxt time..) then i place her on aquite a large area of newspaper (later only slowly make the area smaller and smaller) and i'll use my hands to block her from going away from the newspape..then after she finsih doing her business, i'll praise her..and give her a treat.. (i used to, but nw no more..i just praise her..coz i noticed that sometimes when i will "lei em chit" take out treat for her...and it's like she'll only do it with treats.. ><..that's why i decided to stop and only give her treats very very very randomly)
after she learn to pee and poo in my room's toilet, on the newpaper..everytime i leave for college, i'll lock her in the toilet..
coz wat i experienced is that she still simply poo and pee when i'm not around..then make my whole room stink like crazy..
so after i leave her in the toilet for a few days when i'm away and when i can't watch her..she finally learns that she will need to go to the toilet..
then now..i can fong sam let her stay in my room and roam around even when i;m not watching her..
yes. my puppy will also tear the newspapers in the toilet..
but not those that she pee and poo on..i guess is natural instincts to not play with their excretions... =)
she only bite and chew on the ones i place at the side..
she only bites when i left her too long in the toilet..maybe too sien..
coz i go college for long hours..cant help..
when i'm around..she wun destroy anything..coz already taught..
so dun worry..you just need to teach her that she is only allowed to play and bite the toys to bought for her..then can dee..
but you have to accept that when left alone for too long..they'll eventually find their own games to play..

but ya..this is my first time house training puppy too though i have one more dog..(golden retriever..but he does it in the garden..and he's super smart..coz since puppy..he never once pee and poo on floor or the porch..he only goes to the garden...even as puppy he already know how to tahan pee pee when in the house..not like my ms now..she cnot tahan means cnot tahan..><)
still got a lot to learn..
this is just my experience from this puppy
you can try getting more opinions from other owners.. =)

Finally can bath her dee..
beh tahan..coz i bath her 2 days before her vaccination..
then 7 days after vac. cannot bath..
wahh..
really cannot tahan..hee..
so since today need to bath her i brought her out to my garden to play with my Golden Retriver..
the garden so wet...make her sooo dirty
but finally she's squeky clean

nope..havent finish 3 japs.. ><
just oni finsih 2 japs.. ><
she's already 4 mths old suppose to go for her 4th jap..

she got kennel cough..
last week just oni fully recover..
so cham la..
the pet shop summore giv free one time full grooming and one time basic grooming..
but i dun dare bring her there..
1. catch kennel cough again
2. when go collect her that time..her body FULL of dandruff..
then they summore say the day before just oni bath.. *omg*
dunno wat shampoo they use..

conclusion..
dun simply buy from pet shop!

however, still happy to get her.. =)

owh..i've tried scolding..
but trust me..scolding actually works the other way..
the more you scold..
they more they dun pee and poo at the right place..
so just praise and forget about the mistake..(really..it works..just "YAN" (canto))
just try to watch him even more carefully next time..
if you cant watch her then confine him..
dun respond to his whines..
as in when you need to keep him in the toilet etc..
only let him out when he keeps quiet..
