I am feeding him 3 times a day for now but I think after he is big enough we will try to provide him food twice a day as we are normally not at home during lunch time. Our class starts at 9a.m. and ends at 4p.m.

When is he suitable for this?

And by the way, thanks to jtl for providing me so much information about raising up my kiddo... Thumbs up for the marvelous service. Mind to ask when do you think is a good time for me to groom him? And do you take care of puppies when their owners are out of town?

Winnie_sia87,
You not buy any cage? Who going clean up the poo?
*

Erm, we bought a cage, erm maybe we should call it "fence". Those 4 pieces of metal wires, where we put them together manually. The cage is mainly for us to toilet train it. Where after he ate, we "lock" him inside until he finish his business.

Does anyone know the procedures of bringing back a dog back from KL to Miri? Heard the dogs need to be quarantine? True?

We are going back for holiday. So if possible, we would like to share him with our family...

Got friends to help us, just that we want him to be with us so our parents can have a good look at him. Haha...

And is the "humping" problem popular among Miniature Schnauzers?

No... I am worry that he might pick up bad habits, so I am asking any prevention tips. I personally doesn't think that I am being over worried. After all, prevention is way better than curing, isn't it?

like i said not all dogs hump, not all dogs eat own poo.

poo eating prevention what i know is spread pepper on the poo..

humping, i dont know. i brought meimei (my bro's boss's doggy) to the dog party, and frm there she learnt how to hump. Before this i have never seen her hump cause before this I babysat her for a week plus.

as long as u spend time in monitoring then it's all right.

I see... Thank you for your reply...

Yeah... And boy boy actually scare them so funny... We have actually decided to sell of the rabbits so boy boy can get use to staying with us, but after we found out that they can interact, we are now thinking should we let our rabbits off, after all the rabbits have accompanied us for more than 2 years already.

getting a dog doesn't mean u have to sell off ur rabbits right. they might make good friends =) it's good to let boyboy socialize with other pets other than dog as well
*
Yes of course. At first I was thinking of letting it out because we prioritize boy boy, as our ultimate love for pets are dogs, just that on the time we purchased Adam and Eve (our rabbits) it was our best option because at the point of time I did not own a place of my own, where I rented apartment from the others. Now I have managed to own one, hence we can raise boy boy. You all know that apartments are not meant for dogs, right?

That's why after noticing they goes along well, I reconsidered.

vincent_ng86,
here is my promise for you the potty training. I am staying at apartment.

To teach the dog where to relieve herself. at first you need clean up the smell where they potty/pee before, need do 100% clean up.
1.when find up he/she want potty or pee, bring they on news paper area at floor.make ready 6 news paper at floor. they will do smelling find the place. the best way try get one pee with news paper put at 6 news paper there.
2.never let they make single mistake
3.let they know where you want they to go and...
4.reward they for doing so. "goooood boy/girl."
5.remember each hour hurry the dog to the intended toilet area or dry area with news paper.(go pee! or Go poop). Praise and offer a couple of training treats when successful.
6.the potty training need about 3-4 month for successful.
7.If fail for potty training might facing many problem, they do pee and poop every where, the pee stink is hard to erase, you cannot bring they to friends house or restaurant.

my dog rocky need 2 month for seccessful ,and ricky have follow rocky did, he only less then 2 month.
that the best way for dry area potty training. News paper good and easy clean up.Just much more affordable!! Good for urban dog owner.

Really appreciate your piece of information. Bravo for a great owner like you.

I am currently using the method told by his previous owner. Put him in a place after meal until he finishes his business. However, the place is actually an area fenced up by 4 pieces of metal fence. The place I want him to go to is actually in the fenced area, inside a tray twice his current size. I put some newspaper on it, and we found out that he likes to "search" on those newspaper.

But the thing is he always pee and poo on the floor rather than on the tray. Winnie and I should be more patient... Wahaha... We actually scolded him for that, and there was once he actually pee on the tray, praised him like he was the smartest among us... Hehe... We also bought a packet of snacks, which is recommended by Petshack to appraise him whenever he does the right thing...
