QUOTE(Tainted @ Aug 19 2008, 09:32 AM) Speaking of smoked headlights, do you think we can smoke our front headlights? Front is RM110 + 1year warranty against leakage. If yes, how much would that cost? How much would it cost to smoke the rear as well? QUOTE(dkcc87 @ Aug 19 2008, 09:37 AM) It's better to buy a smoked headlamp direct from the factory as it provides 1 year warranty, instead of DIY-ing your original headlamp...as times goes by,ur headlamp might be covered with water after da rain...just my 2 cents.. Even Proton OEM headlamp also got this problem. QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Aug 19 2008, 10:16 AM) a proper sealing play important roles. Those aftermarket parts from factory did not gurantee us there wont be any water leakage except from "Automotive Lighting" original supplier to Proton. Make sure they use proper sealing compound (silicon) and it will be fine. |

Guys, my car got problem. Brake problem to be exact. The rear passengger side brake is kinda 'locking' and produce screeching sound. I examine the the disc and found out that the disc is not very flat at certain place, thus creating the 'locking'.
So, should I send it for warranty claim which could takes weeks, or just send it to skimmed. This post has been edited by sphiroth: Aug 19 2008, 10:35 PM |

QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Aug 20 2008, 07:49 AM) never skim your disc, you will end up having unbalance grip distance of caliper and might end up pull your car to 1 side. unless you skim both disc. Thanks for the advice. Will go to PESC tomorrow. The best solution is make a trip to PESC or EON, get them inspected and most probably they will request you to make another trip if they don't have stock. Btw, have you check whether the clip that attached to the brake pad is there. QUOTE(MOMOchacha @ Aug 20 2008, 09:37 AM) i also hv face your problem b4.. planning to get a better brake pad and skimmed the disc. i have ever ask it b4 skimmed disc 1pair only RM65 QUOTE(tplcaik @ Aug 20 2008, 09:46 AM) I had same problem with u last 2 weeks. Just skimmed my both rear disc and cost me RM70 and change the disc brake pad RM70 also. Most my friend who drive Proton says that its normal for Proton cars to skimmed the disc once in the 1st year due to low QC. |

Found this thread in the automotive garage. Been thinking of buying to cover up those tiny scratches on my car. The only problem is that there is no Twilight Blue colour. If I use the Ble Black colour, will it be noticeable?

QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Aug 22 2008, 07:30 PM) 4G18 is no way better then campro. Engine is not about max torque and hp. Campro is a high revving engine, so the power is higher but only arrive at high RPM. Unless you rey it, the pick-up is slower than 4G18 which the max torque arrive earlier at 2.8k rpm compared to campro 6k rpm. And you have to see the torque curve also. The best should be almost flat (all rpm also almost at peak torque). The Golf GTI for example, has a low hp rating for a turbocharged 2 litre engine but the torque is very high starting from 2k rpm and almost flat at the entire rpm. 4G18 produce peak 140Nm at 2800rpm and drops immediately, Campro is 152Nm at 4000rpm and maintain until 4300rpm. 4G18 produce 77kW at 6000rpm and Campro produce 82kW at 6000rpm. the figure can tell right? Added on August 22, 2008, 7:50 pm yea im looking for midnight blue as well...looks like the balck blue is the closes. About the touch-up paint, should we just bought the blue black or wait until they some out with the one we want.. |

QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Aug 22 2008, 08:56 PM) if an engine is not about the hp and torque then what is the purpose they measure it? that is the only terms to benchmark engine. Ever heard of marketing? Anyway, thats one way to measure engine performance but it not just that The 4G18 engine is giving a spike at 2800 rpm then drops while the campro is giving smooth climbing in both hp and torque. At 3300rpm both campro and 4G18 is producing the same torque approximately 135Nm. Because for city driving especially in jam, the rpm is always the the lower 3k rpm. The spike is actually good to get the 1tonne++ Waja moving. About the smooth climbing of Campro, I thought there's a torque dip before 4k rpm? With that kind of spike it's only gives u a car lead from stand still then ends up with 1-1.5 contenna lorry behind in 400m drag. Its all about compromise. You get some, you loose some. Depend on whats you want in your car. bare in mind campro is producing the same torque as 4G18 at 3500rpm. As the matter of facts Campro is not a high rev engine and it's a marketing terms used by Proton, most of the covensional car at that range of rpm. A high rev engine is those produce max torque at 6000rpm and above. Isn't Campro max power at 6.5k rpm? QUOTE(richnet @ Aug 22 2008, 09:09 PM) Don't get me wrong, but in lower rpm, campro will loose out to 4g18. But when you get to the sweet spot, it will effortlessly climb to the red line |

QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Aug 22 2008, 10:15 PM) what else to measure on engine performance if not hp and torque? male or female engine? Browse back a few post a realized that we been comparing in term of power/performance, not characteristic. Sorry bout that. that is the 4G18 engine is design for, it's city driving engine and it's not performance engine. As i mentioned no way 4G18 is better then campro in terms of performance. If u happen to browse through the factory chart of torque, it's not dip. It's just flatten all the way from 2000rpm to 2500rpm before it start to climb again. if u compare to 4G18 it start to drop from 2500rpm to 3500 rpm then flatten all the way from 3500rpm to 4500rpm and it up again a little from 4500rpm to 5500rpm. the different is campro flatten for 500rpm while 4G18 flatten 1000rpm. the last few post is talking about performance, therefore it's all about performance. that is max hp not max torque. Added on August 22, 2008, 10:43 pmhey...anyone use this type of alarm? http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/2008-08D...omplete_Set.htm http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/2008-08D...REE_POSTAGE.htm the key is suitable for waja? i look at the BLIZT type, the key pattern like not the same. About that dip (or flat), I've seen a few chart from various sources and it looks to me like a dip. http://www.proton.com/innovation/rnd/campro.php And I've also mixed up between torque and hp Why not get those 2-way alarm. Quite effective and can get quite cheap also. This post has been edited by sphiroth: Aug 22 2008, 10:54 PM |

QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Aug 22 2008, 10:59 PM) hmmm....that's strange about the chart. I hope proton chart is showing manual tranny and mine is also manual tranny. That maybe true also:lol: ..but isn't those chart is obtain at the crank, no transmission attach. If connected to transmission, got another 15% drop. Or perhaps since they selling CPS and now they reveal the true dyno result of campro to show the big difference hahahaha. Added on August 22, 2008, 11:01 pm the problem is I wish to have only 1 key with remote built in. Any recomendation for any brand that similar? Why you want only one key? Isn't it better to have spares? |

QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Aug 22 2008, 11:09 PM) that's right the result is on crank, or maybe different dyno, temperature & humidity gives different result. Paultan website has a dyno of Gen.2 CPS. The result is 15% lower that the 125hp stated because the power lost in the tranny. Anyone dyno the non-cps campro? |

QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Aug 23 2008, 12:16 AM) the silicon is almost the same either brand it will be, the only different is silicon maker. As far as i know if the silicon material is dowcorning brand it might more reliable. But we never know. So expensive, later people come and steal those wiper. RM78 for a pair is quite cheap, i remember did saw the PIAA brand and it cost RM115/pc. |

QUOTE(squareballs @ Aug 23 2008, 03:34 PM) I would say PU last, although fiber is cheaper.. Imagine you driving 100km/h and a small stone hit your bumper, your bumper might crack.. I also support getting the PU as it last. Else if cracked (when using fiber), has to replaced immediately if not, whenever sees the cracked, hearts will be We are reaching V4 soon, gambateh!
