Recently, I went on a trip to Bangkok, Thailand and of course, decided to move out of the city centre with a 1-day tour to a few places just outside of Bangkok.

The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is one of the many places that one must visit while around Bangkok. It is about 1+ hours drive away. You can take a bus here but since I wanted to visit other places, I booked a tour.

The journey there was largely uninteresting until you step into a motorboat that will bring you to the floating market. There, you get to see the Thai way of living beside a river.

It is like kampung life and pretty quiet as well. You see people drying goods out in the sun.

But I noticed the residents were mainly people in the higher age range.

"Ooofff, so heavy!"

"What a boring day..."

"Row, row, row a boat"

The motorboat ride takes about 5-10 minutes before they finally let you down. Part 2 of the Damnoen Saduak series coming soon!

haha, I think thats the only thing consistent about me, the colours tongue.gif Isn't the Watt temples in Bangkok city itself?

Anyway, Part 2 and also the final part smile.gif

The Damnoen Saduak brings you back in time. It is like a blast from the past to see bustling river market when the commercial buildings are taking over everywhere else.

After the motorboat ride, the best way to experience the floating market is to take one of the traditional boats where there are no motor involved.

You get people selling all sort of things. From fruits...

To food...

To souvenirs...

But of course, sitting in a boat doesn't mean you can avoid the famous Bangkok traffic jams. You just experience it in a different form:

All in all, Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is probably a place that I highly recommend when you travel to Bangkok. It is quite the visual feast. If you choose not to sit in the boat, you can also walk around and take in the sights and find yourself a bargain or two.

What is happening over there?
