It would be good if Resort could distribute back some treasury shares to you  bought from FF.

Then you do not have to use your own money to average down.

However, minority shareholders have to demand for it, your rights to do so.

thanks for your advice. Noted that in my diary. smile.gif

If making money in stock market is as easy as buy today, sell next week, then everyone doesn't need to work anymore. Haha. Just joking.

Having said that, it is quite easy to make money in stock market also, buy strong fundamental stock, keep it and forget about the share price, just monitor company financial health. (You need company financial health to stay intact as a reason to keep the share)
While meantimes, take annual dividend similar to FD give you interest. Then after 5-10 years, only look at the share price, then high probably you will be making money.  icon_rolleyes.gif

I agree with the above, provided we buy at its really low price, otherwise we may be holding unrealised loss stocks when market is bearish. blink.gif

sharesa,

If you BUY high dividend yield stock, you get PAID every year.  Let's say that your annual dividend yield is 8%.  You MADE 8% every year.  You have return of 8% per year WITHOUT SELLING. Why do you CARE what is the CURRENT stock price?

I BOUGHT PBBank at RM7.  Now, the dividend is RM0.75.  So, my dividend yield is around 10%.  Unless PBBank cut the dividend significantly, why should I care even if the stock drop to RM5 tomorrow?  In fact, I will buy a lot more if the stock went down to RM5.

You make money when you buy.  Not when you sell.

I get what you mean, Dreamer, but that's provided you have no intention selling at all until your golden age. On top of that, the company has to be continually a profit-making company.
I envy that you have PBB @7 tongue.gif , but had I bought around 11.50 level, it would be an unrealised capital loss now.(Price may deteriorate to 7.00 level , never know)

Sometimes, we do not know when we would need to use our money even though supposed to be parked as long-term holdings. If I had to sell PBB now @ 10.30 level, then it's immediate loss. icon_rolleyes.gif

Oh..by the way, you give us some inspiration to keep our good shares in these turbulent times. smile.gif

To Cherroy & Sky

attended Resorts AGM. Hundreds attended (3x more than last year)
1) they have no plans to distribute share dividends nor cancel
2) when asked regarding higher cash dividend instead of share buy-backs
(they answer: maintain a 20% dividend policy. Next dividend is already higher than previously, they claim. They have plans for the cash but didn't reveal )
3) when asked about the share buy-backs @ 4+ & 3+ but value now @ 2.80+, Tan Sri seems to admit the value they purchased has gone down.(in otherwords, a loss which not mentioned)

The answers are like a broken record .

The Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay is really a serious & glum man.

OT update:

SAPP two MPs were absent during this morning Parliment session.

Also from Malaysia Insider:
DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang (Ipoh Timur) to seek leave to adjourn the House under Standing Order 18 (1) to discuss Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin’s allegations that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's wife Rosmah Mansor and 2 others witnessed Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu being blown up.
KLCI ends morning session near intraday low: 1192.08
Todays intraday low: 1191.60
*
its hard to believe that Rosmah witnessed the event instead of Baginda's wife.

one thing I didn't mention, maybe its trivial to most of you, that I was not so happy with shareholders have to fork out $8 for the parking(1st hour free)@ AGM Crowne Plaza Mutiara (Few people brought that up)
Really a kedekut company like Cherroy mentioned.
According to lim kok thay, we need to pay the $8 because its a revenue for the hotel (?), & quote they pay us good dividends to afford that mad.gif

Wah, really kedekut. Complimentary parking also cannot give.  sweat.gif
Resorts can easily pay for it mah to encourage people attend the AGM, only once a year only. I don't think many shareholders attend also, may be few hundreds only, so few hundreds x Rm8, Resorts had no problem of paying it nor others absence shareholders will object also to spend those kind of money.

Shareas,
How many roughly people there?

Thanks for you information then.  notworthy.gif

roughly 500-700 people.

this lim kok thay saw I raised my hand to ask a question, but he quickly try to wrap it up as soon as one shareholder finished speaking. (At least a chance for me to speak since his eyes fell on me!)
I was fed up that I forced myself to the microphone to butt in when he started talking .
*sh*T him

Although I do not doubt the ability of ICAPs to make money in the market, but don't you think mimicking their investments is kind of dangerous without proper research on your own. I mean it's like people following analyst predictions blindly. No offence or anything, just hope you have done your own homework because if you have no confidence in your own decision, you might act hastily when the markets were to go against your initial decision.
*
sometimes having confidence doesn't necessarily lead you to a right choice of investment. tongue.gif
Besides researching ourselves, decision of investing choice also derives from getting information of sorts through media, company announcements, analysts reports etc.

How on earth can an IPO drop 30 cents on the first day? The directors selling off ? Totally ripping off the people who applied /sent bank drafts / etc etc to get the IPO ....
*
directors have an agreement that they aren't able to sell in a stipulated period upon listing.
Could be the institution investors selling off together with some panicky retailers.

guys,

what do u think of BURSA @ 7.65? i think of buying la
*
my opinion is this may not be a good time as there may be more falls ahead & volume may continue to be really low for this whole year. After all, their profit is from good trading volume. Yusri (Bursa Head) has been really lying low these few months.
