You are posting a million RM question, like the CEO asking why the giant cannot perform in today corporate world....
You have all the answers ... then why asking ?
*
Haha, if I ever had all the answers my friend. I'll be quiet and probably live off n a cave somewhere. To be inquisitive and question everything that moves is what differentiates a fact finder and luck stumbler. smile.gif

Do not misconstrue my questions as an attack on your judgement, but rather a probe on what makes you decide on that purchase at RM0.55. Was the PER the only fact you considered when you made that purchase? Looking at all the observation I've pointed out, I would've normally shun this counter to oblivion until it provides a year of stable and consistent performance. That is why I like/want/need to know what made you BUY the counter, what was it that open your eyes and made you say "this counter will make me money?".

In today internet world , there are facts and figures everywhere and all over the places, it is up to you to pick up and filter ..and decide ... your decision..

If you do not notice it, then probably you think it is luck .

Not the right or wrong way. it is about stock markets....

That is true and that is why a person like me always ask questions of every kind, for the things I already know about and the things I don't know that I still don't know about.

Hey, if you aren't willing to share it's alright. But I still question your decision and maybe someone else will enlightened me when they spot the mark like you.

i have milked ur dividend so long and now u treat me badly...!!!

Wah I've been waiting for Maybulk to touch RM3.50 again and will pick up some. But the way BDI corrects itself is scary.

The problem with Maybulk strategy as I see it is, they expected a lower volume of trade in 2008/9, so they decide to sell some of their ships. But their contingency to charter ships if demands picked up has costs them more overheads for their revenue, since it's almost as expensive to charter a ship and getting revenue for the charter in the first place.

If I'm not mistaken, they sold almost 3 ships already. And last quarter they were chartering ships to do their hauling which increased their operating costs.

Late April and May is good as the BDI shot up back to new highs, but as it is correcting itself back this month, their 2nd quarter would still show less revenue. But it is expected their 1 time sales proit of their ships would be reflected in the next results.

Hmm....it is very quiet in here.  Can't get any news from you guys on the market...... sad.gif

Not much news to be honest. Market is boring. Volume is low.

It needs direction and everyone seems to be waiting at sidelines.

now of days i got new tactic. Since i subscribe to ICAPITAL newsletter, I will mimic their portfolio and also their recommendation!!!!!!! rclxms.gif  thumbup.gif

Although I do not doubt the ability of ICAPs to make money in the market, but don't you think mimicking their investments is kind of dangerous without proper research on your own. I mean it's like people following analyst predictions blindly. No offence or anything, just hope you have done your own homework because if you have no confidence in your own decision, you might act hastily when the markets were to go against your initial decision.

QUOTE(Neo18 @ Jun 26 2008, 03:31 PM)
Hap Seng group managing director Edward Lee Ming Foo said: “Even excluding the gain from the listing of Hap Seng Plantations and other non-operating items, the group recorded a notable 93% rise in profit after tax.”

It proposed a final dividend of seven sen per share less tax. This, in addition to the interim dividend of 3.5 sen per share less tax paid on Oct 26, 2007, a special interim dividend of 41 sen per share less tax and a tax exempt dividend of five sen paid on Dec 14, 2007, will bring the total dividend for the year to 56.5 sen per share.

-------------------------

Guys,

does it mean that dividend yield base on today's price is 56.5/275 (RM2.75@todays' price) = 20.5% gross?!?!?!?!

correct calculation?
*
Should not take special dividend into account. So it's 56.5 - 41 = 15.5 sens dividend

So about 5.6% dividend yield based on latest price.

Your prediction fulfilled!
DJIA slumped 358.41 to 11453.42. The lowest since Sept 2006.
Time to stay sideline first. All long term MA line has been broken. Still plenty to drop.  ohmy.gif

It's been a while since DJIA drop so nicely. While KLCI has more or less sort of de-coupled from the effects due to our own political issues, it sure will be hard not to follow the crowd on this one.

Gosh!!!  Anyone knows what is wrong with YTLPower?  Its price has been beaten down from RM2.50 to RM1.90!!!  My only guess is that the fuel price hike, the potential IPP contract renegotiation might affect their earning.  Other that that what other news is affecting it?

Gosh!  I saw my profit *puff* gone!!!  Just sold it at RM1.90 for some McD chicken foldover.

Added on June 27, 2008, 9:33 amOh, BTW, is there a way for us to check which company bought back the most of their share?  And also which counter normally practice giving back their treasury share to shareholders?  Well, I like YTLPower cos now I have 1000 free units in YTLPower though I have recovered my capital.  I will leave it there to grow 'golden eggs' in the long long long term.  smile.gif

So I am looking for another counter to try my luck.
*
RM2.50 was the before warrant distribution. When the warrants was distributed, the dilution effect was expected to be around 30% since the number of possible new shares created from conversion of thew warrants was almost 30% of the outstanding share in the market. So taking the 30% into account for the dilution effect, stock prices would also be affected.

But bear in mind the majority of warrants are not converted yet since it lasts until 2018, so meaning the dilution has not occur yet. In other words, their latest quarterly results will still benefit the current shareholder when the profits attributed to shareholders are calculated.

Profits on the other hand are expected to fall some 1-5% and some say 5-10% depending on how the windfall tax on IPPs are calculated.

The recent IPO that listed was Luxchem which tanked on their first day, dropping until it hit the 30% mark which means cannot drop some more.
