Hi. I would like to ask whether anyone knows of any place or person who can repair an Xbox 1. Preferably shops that don't use the "Let's try replacing parts one by one and see whether it breaks" method. I sent my Xbox to a crap place sometime ago. Said shop is crap because:

1. Can't figure out actual problem
2. Never upholds their promise ("We'll call you")
3. Can't provide cost/estimate/alternative
4. Here's the best part: it took them a good 9 weeks to tell me they can't do it!

I'm very bitter about the whole experience at this point. If anyone at all can help me out just a bit, you have my thanks.

but xbox 1 hmm.. not sure still can get spare parts or not...

I know about Bernard's shop. I don't doubt that he's one of the better preferred guys around KL, but we're talking about old hardware here. The reason why the bloody shop can't fix my Xbox was supposedly because of spare parts. He could've told me, at least. If parts really are a problem for Xbox, maybe I should just retire the Xbox. But there are still reasons for keeping the Xbox around, which is why I tried repairing it in the first place. Maybe I'll just ask him and see.

why dont u buy used Xbox...which is still in good condition

I think I'll just let the Xbox be for a while. When I feel like getting back to it, maybe I'll ask Bernard one of these days. Either that, or buy one used. Thanks for viewing.

The Xbox WAS working somewhat. Basically, the instant you switched on the power socket, the Xbox turns on. Pressing the power button does nothing. Since you need to hold the power button to load the modchip, the Xbox can't load anything at all. Except original titles. And since pressing the power button does nothing, it also means you can't turn off the Xbox except by switching off the power socket. I thought it could've been the power supply or modchip itself, but I can't really tell. After sending it to the crap shop I mentioned, they basically played a guessing game by trying out each part one by one. Since they didn't even tell me what they did, I can never tell. All I know is that after 9 weeks of pestering them, they finally gave up and asked me to collect it.

After reaching home, I tried plugging in the power cord and I noticed the Xbox doesn't turn on by itself anymore. I thought those guys somehow managed to fix it, but not completely. Nope, now it just doesn't power on at all. Since I'm not familiar with the insides of an Xbox, I dare not open it up. But I did notice that the Xbox is short a couple of screws. Now I have a totally broken Xbox that I can't even tell is repairable or not. If it's possible to have a go at it, I'm willing to give it a shot. Just not the same kind of treatment I received.

you need to clean the back motherboard because of Trace Corrosion.

if possible , try put the ahem disc in the xbox before powerup. some of the cheap can auto detect ahem game but since it broken too bad.

I got extra set modded for RM200 only. let me know if u want.

Previously I send my xbox to a very popular shop for repair, and it was with them for at least 3 months, and yet they still unable to fix it. When I finally got it back, all of the screws for the casing is missing
So the shop i first went to got the same problem 1 - 4 like yours too.

wonder if anyone can repair old skool xbox which have faulty harddisk...if only i backup the rom the task should have been simpler..i just got this xbox from my bro and he wanna use it as xbmc media center and found out its dead coz of hdd kong...hmm if only i can get its rom inside to mod it to new hdd it should be better..

try replace the HDD then boot up using slayer installer disc, then install the xbmc from there

mine had a fried mod chip and spoilt HDD, I got Bernard to help me replace the mod chip, then I replace the HDD myself, then re-install the xbmc using slayer disc.

TS, beware of Sungai Wang shops. Last time I took a partially spoiled PS2 to one shop, and the I came back with a totally spoiled PS2. I suspect they took the working components of my PS2 and replaced them with spoiled ones, or replaced with nothing I suppose. NEVER TRUST THEM unless they do the diagnostic test right in front your eyes, which they will never

For now I'm already over the Xbox. It's obvious that someone is telling me to move on. I don't doubt that there might be someone who can fix it, but the cost / effort is just not worth it. It's quite painful when you realize you've been lied to from the very beginning. I'm done seeking help for this Xbox.
