Gyllenhaal and Arterton Cast in Prince of Persia

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Jake Gyllenhaal (who was first rumored by Latino Review) and Gemma Arterton (upcoming Quantum of Solace) will star in Prince of Persa: The Sands of Time, Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films' adaptation of Ubisoft's popular video game. Mike Newell is directing.

In the fantasy adventure, Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Doug Miro & Carlo Bernard, Jordan Mechner and Boaz Yakin wrote the script, which is based on the many games created by Jordan Mechner.

Bruckheimer is producing, while Mike Stenson, Chad Oman and Patrick McCormick are exec producing.

Production is set to start in July.

'Persia' pushed to Memorial Day 2010

The dating game for movies is more popular than ever as distributors comb the release calendar to check for openings and survey the competition.

Last week, Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer announced they were pushing back the release of fantasy actioner "Prince of Persia" — a potential franchise along the lines of "Pirates of the Caribbean" — by nearly a year, from June 19 to Memorial Day 2010.

So now we have established that his hair, his looks and his body is the equal of the actual Prince himself.
(well, maybe Jake overdid it and went even bigger lol)

But the one thing on the mind of everyone is: the voice.

Everyone knows how Jake sounds and everyone who played POP knows of the Prince.

So will Jake be able to pull this one thing off? biggrin.gif

Out of all the things to condemn such a good movie when there is nothing bad to complaint about it, you guys have to pick on the accent issues of the actors/actresses laugh.gif

Why not talk about how they should've talked in actual Persian language instead of English, realistically speaking tongue.gif

I didn't see anybody complaint when King Leonidas speaks in his native Glaswegian accent laugh.gif

apa la u all doh.gif

After the movie was over I realized we are yet to have a true, one-hit super video game to movie adaptation.

There is only one MORTAL KOMBAT notworthy.gif

To this day, it's still considered one of the best video-game to movie adaptations
